Re: Pebble Blue is practically black, right?
Funny how there's no reflection of purple neon light on the white phone.
FWIW, I agree the picture does not represent the actual color of the blue version but it has nothing to do with purple neon lights.
Just like most of us, I ordered white because I didn't want to be stuck with a potentially purple phone. - 06-18-2012, 04:18 PM #52

Re: Pebble Blue is practically black, right?
I would have been fine with a white back if the front surround would have been black like on the HOX. But I don't want to stare at a white bezel out in bright daylight so I plan to embrace the strange and rock the blue version.

Re: Pebble Blue is practically black, right?
It's another instance of poor lighting. There is clearly light reflecting from off the ceiling, easy given away by the fact that the bottom-right corner of the backplate is a completely different color from the top-left corner, the effect of which is further magnified by the plastic that is wrapped around the device when the box is first opened.
Look at the pic in his review (3 posts up from this post) where he is looking at the face of the phone and you can see his wedding ring; you can easily see it is a deep, metallic blue.
Again, not hating on the people in here who got white. But this is the only place on the entire internet I've seen where people are arguing that it is purple - and none of these people have actually seen the phone in person. Not a single review from tech blogs or Youtube - from people who have the actual device in hand - states that it looks purple.
It's starting to feel as though some people on this forum are trying to justify to themselves the reason they bought white by falsely arguing that the blue model is purple.
It's not a battle, folks. We're all on the same team

Oh Im more then pumped I got white and I know we r on the same team it just seems like every pic I see looks purple and every time it's put off by lighting so when u get it in real life will u only have it in lighting that makes it look blue?

Re: Pebble Blue is practically black, right?
Some of the people on this forum have a very strange idea of what purple is. This phone is not purple. The hyperglaze coating definitely reflects light a little differently then most phones. But most videos and pictures I have seen make it look a little gray more than a little purple. Though I have seen some video reviews that say the white is more of a pearl white that shows some purple highlights. Really though, I think they both look really nice and I had a tough time picking the blue over the white.

Re: Pebble Blue is practically black, right?
Please be aware that two of the hardest colors for digital imaging chips to get correct are blue and purple. Even when the camera taking the picture is properly profiled, it can be very difficult to get purple and blue correct.
It does not surprise me in the least that most pictures taken of these phones have the blue color all over the map.
Has any reviewer commented that it looks more purple than blue in any online review you've watched/read? Wait until you see it with your own eyes.
Besides, why all the hate for purple? I don't see Cookie Monster getting significantly more tail than Barney.

Re: Pebble Blue is practically black, right?
meh...seems that the majority of the ones who have actually held the phone seem to like the Pebble Blue. So think it'll be fine.

Re: Pebble Blue is practically black, right?
I saw a lady today at the local museum with an AT&T Pebble Blue. First, very jealous that she has hers. Gr.... but from afar and under poor lighting, the color was of course meh as this phone seems to be quite the chameleon. I think it really doesn't matter which color you ordered though given that you can exchange for the other color, at worst pay the restocking fee.

Re: Pebble Blue is practically black, right?
In the videos and pictures I've seen over the past couple weeks, it's apparently light shiny blue, grey, and a darker blue. It also appears to have a brushed look in some shots and a mirror-like finish in other. Guess it has different personalities
