has anyone heard if theres an app that would work with verizon and this phone to be able to watch live tv? Without using a sling box

Currently i dont know any apps that can do this. However there are rumors that Verizon FIOS will be launching newer STB firmware and apps to do such a thing. However I'm sure it will only work in your house over wifi. No idea when this is coming out maybe by the holidays.

i have fios, so that would be awesome.. I have an app now that will allow me to access my dvr and record from phone if im not home, but wish it would let me watch my recorded shows that are on dvr, especially for when im traveling.. come one verizon get with the program, bright house did.

I use Splashtop for this.

I can log into my media server and watch my DVRed shows while out of town. I like to watch my local 10pm news show before falling asleep when on business travel and this works well.

Yup I also would love this feature. I seriously doubt it will be allowed to stream to a device not on your home network though. The networks would never allow it for whatever reason. TV networks and cable companies need to get with the times and let us get the content we pay through the nose for wherever and whenever we want!

That's a great idea. I snagged Splashtop when it was Amazon's FAOTD, but hadn't had a great use for it other than novelty purposes. I cut off my cable this summer just to save a few bucks (nothing on in the summer anyways), but will be going back in the fall, and forgoing the cable company's DVR box for a cable card in a dedicated 3-tuner media server.
