So if the phones being released on the 21st for all carriers... Verizon had their delay (what else is new) and their website says will ship BY July 10th.. not ON July 10th. Hopefully we will see pre-orders being shipped starting from the 21st depending on who ordered first.

I've been saying the same thing. Hopefully I'm mistaken but everyone seems to be missing the "BY" part of the date and somehow reconfigured the word "BY" to mean "ON". It seems to me that people's reading comprehension has gone downhill. As far as July 10th is concerned my understanding is that is just for orders placed after the initial rush. It's logical that Verizon can't ship everything the first day. UPS doesn't have enough trucks for that I don't think...

did anybody notice in the article it states big red was pushed back a day and is the second release date as it was originally set for June 21st. This means it was the 21st but is now the 10th

Actually it was originally "ship by July 9th", now it is "ship by July 10th". With that verbiage, it could ship any time between now and July 9/10.

You never know when it comes to Verizon but I suspect that they will ship as early as possible. I've suspected all along that Verizon was just giving themselves some fudging room and they sure won't want to be last with ATT, Sprint and TMO all delivering right away (if they do).

We'll all know soon enough and no matter what we say, think or do, that isn't going to change so no point in getting all heated up about something we can't change and have no control over. Next week, the week after, or three weeks from now we'll all know what the deal is and at that point it won't matter anymore.

We'll get it when we get it. But I do remember when Droid X came out, people were getting them before the stated ship dates so it's not outside the realm of possibility that we may get it sooner.

When Verizon released the iPhone for the first time, pre orders came before the store had them I'm stock and before the "expected" ship date when first ordering. My only hope is the 7/9 date is just a worst case scenario for those that ordered first in the event something would have pushed an earlier release. But even if it is 7/9 I won't be mad. I just wonder why Verizon just didn't give a firm release date like the other carriers. Has to be a reason right? Could it be possible they want to get the device of sooner but not sure of the can?

"By" does not equal "on". Like it or not, Ship by July 9th, definitely leaves the possibility it could ship sooner. Not saying it will, just saying it could. Not sure who is being "trolled".

Actually not necessarily true. Many preorders have shipped before then( iphone 4, rezound, etc) It says Ship BY Not ship on. I know that is hard for some to understand.

Well lets hope it ships before 7/10 but I won't be getting one until it is in stock in the stores..... I'm gonna use my sister's upgrade and give her my Rezound or Gnex. But I do wanna see some hands on reviews on it and see what everyone here thinks about it soon. I can wait that extra few weeks for mine.

Reading thru this thread, a thought occurred to me... Verizon had to know that lots of people would buy new phones before the 28th to avoid losing unlimited data. Once they allowed preorders, people saw the 7/9 ship date and it spread like wildfire. If, like so many of us, you like the latest and greatest device, order this one. Then we preorder and lots of our confirmations (when you check online) say No Information Available for shipping dates.

Even if they launch before 7/9, now they have a kickass phone with (presumably) great preorder numbers to brag about. We all know they like those.

Am I saying this is the only reason (or even *A* reason?) No.

Could it be? Seems plausible.

This way, despite the change being unpopular and ultimately bad business, their annual report will reflect a sudden uptick in sales and contract renewals immediately after the switch at the beginning of Q3, followed up by a rise in new contracts due to the SGS3 and the Razr HD, which I expect they will announce and launch a month or so after this drops. Except that all the contract renewals will show up as being done beofre the 28th, as your contract was renewed when you pre-ordered, not when you activate.

Interesting, I spoke to a VZW rep this morning, trying to get an early upgrade so I could pre-order the GS3 and was told that if I did not activate the new phone by the 28th, I would lose my unlimited data. She said it did not matter that I was pre-ordering today, the phone had to be activated before the 28th to keep my current plan.

In the end, it doesn't matter for me anyway. I was able to get an early upgrade but couldn't pre-order the GS3. The rep told me she couldn't change the actual upgrade date in the system only process an early upgrade. In order to pre-order the GS3, she would need to change my upgrade date. If the phone was out today, I could have ordered it. Oh well, I am supposed to get a call once the phone is released and my early upgrade will be processed.

The verizon sales rep you talked to is WRONG. Verizon has stated now in multiple places that if you pre-order either through Verizon or Best Buy you retain your unlimited, even if you receive and activate the phone after the 28th. There's multiple sources for this throughout this forum.

Just spent an hour on the phone upgrading my wife's Sprint line to the SGIII... went through numerous reps and eventually to the billing department (had some issues with them placing my order). They're all using the same marketing slogan "Thank you for pre-ordering the Samsung Galaxy S3... The release date is June 21st but we will try our best to make sure it gets to you before anyone else has the chance to see it in stores"

So I'm assuming like what has already been stated is true.. that the phone will ship before it's release date... anywhere from now till June 21st for Sprint customers.

Absolutely!!! All the pre-orders will be affecting the Q2 Bottom line. Regardless on when the money is actually in VZW coffers, the transaction happened in June. When the money rolls in a matter of the order to cash cycle, but for all intents and purposes it's a Q2 number.

Financially VZW has nothing to gain by having a release date in July. Quite on the contrary...much to loose. There is much descent on the new contracts (quite frankly I think they are good), and for those nutty people that like to have the latest and greatest as soon as possible (I'm reminded of ppl waiting in line for hrs for iPhone) the opportunity of having the phone 2 weeks early and more so the opportunity to "stick it" to verizon will make many leave for other options. I think, and hope, that the June 21st release date applies in some fashion to Big Red.

i just checked verizonwireless.com and pulled up my preorder reciept. shows order in process and ship date still says unknown. I placed my preorder on june 6th at 705am
