So with the new phone comes the inevitable setup and tweaking.

Originally I planned to set it up very similar to how my current (Droid 3) phone is setup, but I’m contemplating a different home screen layout. I’ll have to see what I come up with when I get home tonight and charge it up.

So, just out of curiosity, how many people keep their home screen layouts pretty much the same when they updates phones? Or do you use the update as an opportunity to make a fair number of changes?

I have been through 10-12 phones and a ton of rooting so resetting homescreens has always been a pain in the *** for me.
I usually keep it the same

Usually works pretty well for me. Like the consistency.

I was debating this. Do I go with the old or try something new?

I decided to stick with what I know, at least in the beginning. I figured I was gonna have a hard time figuring out ICS, Samsung, and everything else that I decided to have some familiar things to make it easier.

So I installed Go Launcher and Go SMS. But I only have 3 screens instead of the 5 I had on my Droid X since they have the toggles built into the notification bar.

I'm sure I will set up mine differently. After two years of having the same setup, I think I will go for a change.

I would love to be able to find some widgets that integrate fb/twitter a'la Sense, a contacts widget similar to the one Moto uses, etc. Unfortunately, Samsung isn't known for great widget support, so I'll have to do a lot of browsing around the market to find anything that fits the bill.

I might even go for a Xperia-esque look.

I hate having homescreens just lined up with shortcuts.

Try something new. Leave it blank/empty at first and then start adding what you need where you need it. I found that I "need" a whole lot less on the homescreens than I thought looked cool when I first started with Android.

Welp, I've pretty much gravitated back to the setup I had prior. A few minor tweaks, but nothing major.

I tried to give widgets another go this time, but they just feel pointless to me. I'd rather just have a nice picture on the screen.

100% different for me this time. New apps, launcher, wallpaper, dock... Everything...

I like the new look. It's funny, have a giant screen now and have less on it than my tiny (by comparison) Dinc2

Pretty much the same here and like the idea of adding screen shortcuts as you need them. I have lots of apps that I hardly ever use.

Check out Android Pro Widgets...I think that might fit the bill for ya!

[Power widget/settings shortcuts] [Messaging/Facebook/Twitter widgets] [Utility shortcuts- alarm, calc, calendar, etc] Left 3
[Beautiful Weather, CNN Headline widgets, Dolphin shortcut, Droidlight shortcut] -Home Center
[Music/Pandora/Slacker widgets] [Media/Camera/Sports app shortcuts] [Contact quicktask widgets] Right 3

I think I'm going to reduce the number of app shortcuts, except for my most commonly used ones on the center homescreen. Why clutter up the screen with app shortcuts when I ended up going to the app drawer half of the time anyways. Or, I may try to use more app folders. I might try to use more widgets this time, and I may even reduce my number of homescreens. I highly doubt I'll end up doing that, but I might really focus my main stuff on the center three, and keep seldom used or "test" widgets on the ends... These kinds of things take me forever to figure out what I want to do.

I use folder organizer to automate the maintenance of my folders. My most used apps go into one of four folders and I hardly ever go into the app drawer. I don't even have a link to the app drawer on my home Page anymore.

If you want to cut down on the number of shortcuts on the home screen, but reduce the amount of time hunting in the app drawer, I encourage you to play with a couple of folders.

Well, this is only my second Android phone (coming from the great OG Droid Incredible!) and I am a creature of habit. So I set up my widgets and apps almost exactly the same as how I set them up on my DInc, give or take an app or widget.
