So I will be picking up my new Verizon S3 tomorrow morning from Best Buy and I am curious what others have done with their first charge. I know in the book it says to turn phone off and charge fully before use but has anyone really done that? Does it really hurt the battery if you don't, I don't think so but who knows. I don't know if I am going to be able to wait for that once I get home and want to play with the phone.

Let me know what you guys did for the first charge???

Mine has been in the box since I got home from work this afternoon at 4. It's been killing me not playing with it, but I can wait until tomorrow.

Activated mine around noon and used it the rest of the day. Fully charged it that night while on.

I thought the 'memory' stuff was with the old batteries and not applicable to this phone. But I think everyone is being cautious and fully charging it before use, running it down, fully charging it again... repeat, for a few cycles. Personally, I don't know much about these batteries so I'd like to hear from someone with some knowledge on this as well

Battery was at 50% out of the box.
I ran it dead & then gave it an uninterrupted charge to 100%.

My battery life is great too but damn it takes forever for this phone to charge.

It did take a while to get up to 100%. But it is a fairly large battery.

I noticed that if you charge the phone while it is turned off, it charges faster, but if the phone is on it takes a bit longer to charge to full.
