I have a Verizon Galaxy S iii and I've noticed that the auto dimming that occurs when being inactive in the phone is very jittery. I have shut off auto brightness but that didn't seem time help. Essentially what I am trying time describe is, for example when using the web browser if were to not touch the screen for a period of time it woukd dim before shutting off completely. This transition on my phone isn't smooth at all and the same applies to tapping the screen when it ramps back u p.

Thanks for any replies!

Yeah I've noticed that the transitions for the auto brightness aren't very smooth. They are very drastic changes. However as far as the dimming during the inactivity I think that's just tying to save battery. It's kind of like the dimming feature on a lot of laptops I see today - the screen will dim before it completely turns off.

I definitely don't mind the dimming feature I just wish it wasn't jittery/ stuttering. I'm use to a much smoother ttransition.

you had mentioned using the browser when this occurs. keep in mind that although you have auto brightness disabled in settings the browser has its own display settings for auto brightness and color/tone changing for battery saving purposes...
id check all settings and see what happens.

The brightness issue was also driving me insane until I found out about the different setting for the browser

Mine does the same thing too. It does it all the time doesn't matter what app. I'm using Actually, did it just before I typed this in a second ago.

Also have auto brightness off and that didn't seem to make any difference.

Auto brightness is all screwed up. It's too dark and I'm somebody who tends to keep his screen on the dim side. Aside from that, it will change the brightness level of the screen when the light in the room hasn't changed. I've also noticed that when playing a game, the screen dims a bit for no reason. I've played around with all the associated display settings and can't find anything that resolves the issues.
