Bluetooth and audio

Some below have may have already been documented, but few things I have found are:

  1. Phone is plugged into speakers (in cable into car stereo) and bluetooth headset is connected, when call is made or incoming, gets routed to speakers. In android 2x, when a call was made/came it, it would stop any audio from playing and get routed to the bluetooth headset, as it should. In S3, an incoming call occurs, the bluetooth beeps/chimes, but when answered, will switch to the car audio (speakers) and use the mic on phone (which is laying face down on the seat).
  2. If you use the music widget, there is no way to navigate back up to see your library. You are stuck in seeing only the current album/playlist.
  3. Music: No multi level navigation by genre/artist. If you select genre, you are now shown all albums. Need to be able to see by genre, then artist, then albums. MixZing and few others do this, as does iOs. To me, it is a no brainer.
  4. Incoming calls on bluetooth headset get garbled and have to recall caller back to get a good connection. This has happened several times on the S3. Never on prior phone (droid x)
  5. SVoice and bluetooth headset do not work well together. Pressing and holding call button on headset triggers svoice, but mic on phone is used, not bluetooth.
  6. Have a separate bluetooth stereo headset for music in which the play/pause button does not work with the S3. All other buttons work fine, but not the play/pause.
  7. That dang wifi notification!!!!! (don't want to root, but ever time it pops up I keep considering it)

#7. Easy Fix. Settings>Wi-Fi. Make sure the Notify me box is unchecked. I didn't like the wifi notification either. This fixed it.

That's for when wifi is ON. The problem people are having is with the pop-up when wifi is off and you're near a network you've connected to before. There's actually an option under Advanced in wifi settings that disables the popup BUT (big but there) it will automatically connect you to a known network. The pop-up can be removed using the Any Cut method in a few threads here (no root required).

Then there's the persistent ongoing notification that Verizon so graciously decided to give us after they removed the wifi toggle. A couple have said there's just went away but mine was there until I rooted and edited the sql record.

When I unchecked the Notify me box, I stopped getting that pop-up. As far as the Advanced tab goes, the Auto-connect option connects you to wifi even if you have it off when you enter into high data usage apps. Wifi is OFF and you can still go to Advanced and uncheck the box. Simple. I don't have the pop-up nor does wifi automatically connect.

Have you actually connected to any wifi networks and are in range of them? Are you sure you don't have wifi enabled but not connected to anything?

And if you turn wifi on, it automatically connects to that previous network without manually doing it? Maybe your phone is magical because that's not what most are seeing. Also try long pressing the home button, hit remove all and then try to open the Google Play store. I'm able to replicate the popup 100% of the time.

Correct.

Just did what you said regarding the task manager then opening the Play store and NO WIFI POPUP.

Sitting at my desk at work, turned off and disconnected from wifi an hour ago and no pop ups.

Have you tried opening some data intensive apps? PJ is correct in that there is an ADDITIONAL pop up (think: ad splash) asking again if you want to connect to wifi. Many of us have experienced it and it is(was) annoying as hell.

x2. Even with every variation of settings in the Wi-Fi settings pages.

Below is the lovely pop-up I posted in one of the other threads.

Go to settings, bluetooth, paired connections, open your bluetooth headset connection while it is active and tell it where to send the audio.

#1. I've noticed the same thing. I've tried 2 different BT earphones and the BT for the car. I've also tried a few different audio sources (Pandora, Music Player, etc.) and it always works the same.

Anyone have a solution to this? Kind of defeats the purpose of having BT for calls and utilizing the streaming capabilities of the phone.

Also, has anyone else noticed that when the BT device is connected, that the volume is way down and doesn't show up when you got to Settings/Sound/Volume? Occasionally, when connecting the BT while in SVoice, I will see the BT Volume slide bar appear, other than that, only when I use the volume controls and the BT is connected. And even then, there doesn't seem to be a way to make a default volume level.
