Stock messaging, items read still blue?

Wife is having this problem with the stock text messaging program. She has messages that she has read that are still showing blue which I am guessing is unread and not sure why that would be happening? Anyone have any ideas? I am not having this problem with my phone.

Can you screenshot what you're referring to? My messages do not show blue - read or not.

Unless you're talking about the texting bubble. When I have an unread text in the stock app, theres a "1" showing on my message list, as well as on the icon.

Mine was also doing this a day or so ago. Now they are back white. No explanation.
By the way I have Sprint

Mine has never done that, my best guess is another app is doing it.

Hmm it is interesting. Sprint is supposed to be sending out a replacement phone for me. I am also having heat issues. Phone is too hot to touch when searching for a signal.
