Headphones plugged in but some sounds still come out speaker

I have my headphones plugged in but when I use my volume buttons. I still hear some beeps out the actual phone speaker. My expected behavior. Would be all sound would come out the headphones, any ideas how I would do that? Thanks, tim

I know this sounds bad but did you make sure the headphones are plugged in all the way? I did that the first time I used headphones. It was not plugged in all the way so sound still came out the speakers. It takes a good push to get it clicked in.
Also do you have a headphone icon come on in the notification bar? That will pop up when it is in all the way!

didi is correct, just make sure that you pushed it all the way in

vGot the icon, I can hear my movie fine, but when I'm on the main home click k the volume buttons I hear the beeps out my phone speaker.

I have noticed this bug, too. It actually just happened while I was typing this post. The phone is setting on my desk with the headphones plugged in and I just heard an email notification through the external speaker.

EDIT: I looked into this a little more and it looks like this is an old bug that Google doesn't really care about. See link here

If you want notification to go through the headset, but not speakers, try SoundAbout in Google Play. Just un-check the "Notification to speaker" option.
