Battery Question 2
I unplugged my S3 this morning and it was at 100%. By the time I got to work ( 15 miniute drive ) I was down to 94%. I made one phone call for 4 minutes and checked facebook once. I swear this thing dies in my pocket fairly fast but if I am on it the battery is better. Anyone have any input or tips or anything to help get the best out of my battery? thanks

Re: Battery Question 2
Settings -> Battery
That will tell you what has taken up the most of your battery.
Also, click on the graph up top - you will also see how many times your device has been awake compared to when the screen is on - if the device has a lot of blue ticks for being awake but the screen isn't on, it means something is keeping your device from sleeping properly...you should check your apps. - 07-24-2012, 08:23 AM #5

System Panel. It should show you if a app is causing your cpu to stay high.
Or a app like spare parts.
I unplugged yesterday night and now 9 hours later I'm at 94% with 29 minutes screen on time. Of course I also cut down on syncing and stopped Gmail since I find it wears the battery down.

Re: Battery Question 2
My battery life is horrible, just as bad as my Tbolt.I got up at 7 and took my phone off the charger and around 130 i put in a new fully charged battery. I just had to just a new on in at 730.
When I look at my apps is says my screen is the problem, but it is not on a lot. I have also noticed that it seems when I do not use it, or its in my pocket the battery drains a lot quicker. I am not sure why. It has to be an app running in the back ground some where. - 07-25-2012, 11:41 PM #15

I burn about 1% per hour when my phone is just sitting. Of course I have most things on a slow sync and Gmail is disabled and my other email only syncs every 30 Min.

I was also having a battery problem. So I factory reset the device and all is good again. Even downloaded all my apps and still getting stellar battery.

Re: Battery Question 2
oh man did I really want to post something in this thread. Ok. I absolutely love the s3. I got it 10 days ago and it's been nothing but amazing!
So anyways. About 4 days ago I went to sleep with my s3 to charge overnight. I woke up in the morning with 100% once I unplugged the phone it went to 11% I was very confused so I turned the screen off then back on and it went back to 100% then 10 mins later I was at 75% no heavy use at all with wifi only. 15 mins later at 50% then at 25 mins it died. I took it to Verizon thinking it was a better issue so they gave me a new batter.... The next day it happened again. So I took it back to Verizon and they gave me a new s3. Now yesterday and today my phone won't hold a charge at all. It took 2 hours to go from 60-63% and last night my s3 didn't charge at all. It was steady at 23% for 6 hours with no apps open. I have 3 different cables, chargers and what not. I've used all of them. What is going on? Sorry I'm not posting screen shots. My s3 is dead. But all my apps are closed it says. And I close them all the time. Thanks guys and sorry for the long post. - 07-26-2012, 11:14 AM #22

Re: Battery Question 2
My phone bounces between excellent battery life and terrible battery life and I haven't really noticed a pattern. At work I get terrible cell reception, so I expect it to drain the battery more. I bounce between 2G (1x) and 4G all day long. As a side note this phone definitely gets worse reception than my DINC.
At home I'm on WiFi..and for example yesterday I got home my battery was roughly 70%. I did a 40 minute run around my neighborhood using runkeeper and pandora the whole time and the battery dropped about 5%, which seems reasonable for GPS and 100% data useage. From 7pm until 11pm with moderate texting and facebooking on wifi the battery dropped 8% or so. Again seems reasonable for a 4 hour period. I went to bed at 11pm with probably 55% remaining and woke up 8 hours later with 15% remaining. 40% over 8 hours while doing nothing? That doesn't seem reasonable. Oddly enough the battery seems better while using the phone, and not in idle.
I have most of the bloatware disabled and I'm aslo in power saving mode. I'm wondering if there isn't a bug in the power save mode when the phone is idle it sucks down the juice.
I checked the battery graph, and while the screen was off while I slept, something awoke the device every 30 minutes or so. Which with all the accounts I have seems about right. But I still don't know why the battery would drain more in idle than in use. That or I'm on crack.
