Default US$16 64GB Sandisk MicroSD for my Galaxy S3 - is it COUNTERFEIT?

I've looking for a 64GG MicroSD card for my new GS3(Verizon). My order with Amazon
(sold & ships directly from Amazon) is still on hold and the only reason I'm still waiting for
is that I got it when Amazon discounted it to $49. However, it's still showing delivery date
    three week away.

So I started looking around and found this one on Ebay... US$16 delivered, for
a Sandisk 64GB MicroSD??? My first response was that it was a COUNTERFEIT
card... but on the other hand, the selller does have impeccable feedback ratings.

What do you guys think? Counterfeit or real? Come to think of it, how will I know if it's
counterfeit once I receive it from the seller? I'm thinking of getting it.... worse case
scenario: it's fake and I'll have to file a claim with eBay.... most money I'll lose is $16, right?
(or can a counterfeit card destroy or brick my GS3 phone?)

    Here's the link....

either counterfeit or gray market or perhaps it didn't pass qc so can't be sold through official channels. With the super low price from overseas , you have a higher likelihood that it doesn't perform to spec, or might corrupt data

that makes sense.... but it's sold out anyway... I was just going to throw $16 on it
    and see what happens.

I just had another thought... any chance that the cards are stolen goods?
(as in they "fell out of the truck" outside of Sandisk's factory in China?)

I can think of many reasons for a $16 Sandisk 64 GB card on Ebay, none of them good.

Even if the seller has 500+ positive ratings and only 2 negatives over the last few years?

I have not bought/sold anything via eBay in a long time. Will eBay or PayPal really
give you the money back if the product turned out to be counterfeit? With a Sandisk
card, I can easily verify it by sending it to Sandisk.

How many of these cards has he/she sold? Any feedback related to these cards?

If it sounds too good to be true.....you know the rest.

The seller may be completely unaware of the circumstances surrounding the cards that he is selling. All he may know is he got a good deal and can sell a ton of them on Ebay.

The seller has sold at least 100+ of this card, based on the "completed auction" search on eBay.
All ended in the last week or two, which mean nobody has received them yet.

I am now 99.93% convinced that it's counterfeit.

Having said that, I would still have wasted $16 just to see it.

A lot of these knockoff microsd
cards are 2gb cards that have been modified to show as 32gb when on your computer. There's an old thread on here about the scam somewhere

    I got one from Amazon.
    Class 10, cost about $70.

I don't by CF, SD, SDHC or any flash based card off eBay.
I'll buy a lot of things via eBay, but flash cards, I buy at reputable places so I can return if something is wrong.

fortunately some buyers have already started receiving these cards...

I don't know how trustworthy h2testw software is, but many are reporting
the cheap cards showed the full 59GB FAT32 formatted capacity.

who knows, maybe the h2testw software were developed by counterfeit
card sellers? (and disguised as German in origin)

It's $16 dude. Even if it's fake, you can get a refund by opening a case and keep the bo-bo card for stashing porn or whatever you kids do these days with spare memory

Sent from my SCH-I535 using Android Central Forums

OK, here the way to handle Chinese fake SD, MP3 or flash cards. I have bought several MP4 players and flash drives that have been listed as having a 64GB or whatever capacity. Naturally it's a given that they'll only have a capacity of 8GBs at the most. So you file for a refund with eBay and a scorching negative feedback in all capital letters. You get a complete refund from eBay (they have to protect their name) and a promise from the seller that, if you revise your feedback to positive they'll be so happy and let you keep whatever you bought. Works every time.

This may be true...but then again, this is how the next guy gets burned. As the OP noted, "all the feedback is positive, so it has to be good, right?" Obviously not if this is the case.

I'd say, "no thanks, just send me a shipping label". Chances are, the cost to ship it back is prohibitive enough they may just let you keep it regardless, but if not, fine...I don't want that piece of garbage.
