R.I.P. Mr. Galaxy, III
I'm very disappointed to report that my SGSIII has drowned over the weekend. I got shoved in a swimming pool with my wallet and phone still in my pockets.
The phone currently sits in a bag of rice at home. Fingers crossed that mother-effer turns on when I arrive home this evening. This is a sad day for everyone. You got to risk it for the biscuit

Is the person responsible for throwing you in the pool going to buy you a new phone if this one does not come back later from the dead?

Re: R.I.P. Mr. Galaxy, III
I'm curious as well. I'd be pissed enough that they'd ruin the remote on my keys that unlocks my car doors but the phone would cause me to go ballistic.
It's 2012....hasn't been funny to push people into pools for years. Too many electronic gizmos people carry around. I'd have gone all Hulk and ruined the party for everyone.Thanked by 11:+ Show/Hide list of the thanked

Re: R.I.P. Mr. Galaxy, III
I agree with this, the person is responsible for damaging your phone.
If the pool was chlorinated, you can pretty much forget about it. Even if you get the phone working, it will only be a matter of time before the chlorine left on the circuit boards shorts it out later.
Get the person who threw you in the pool to pay the deductible, if you had insurance, or the replacement cost of a new phone. It will teach them a lesson on not behaving like a child.a little obsessive... - 07-30-2012, 02:19 PM #7

THis is when having a knife is a good idea! Plus you should make them pay for it. Even if it does work afterwards. I hate stupid people like this.

Bathtub hell, I would throw it in the toilet after a hangover dump. Sorry to be so graphic but I am growing tired of having to give the lecture around the pool that if people have a nice phone and car remote you could be buying $1000.00 of stuff you will never touch.

Re: R.I.P. Mr. Galaxy, III
Thanks for all the kind wishes you guys. I'm still a bit in shock over it.
At least the responses from all of you are cheering me up a bit!
I am definitely going to be sending this guy an email that all but demands that he pay me for a new phone. It's tough because he is a friend of a friend so it makes it even more awkward for me to contact him.
Even if the phone does turn on the water damage stickers are going to be voided, so if I have any issues down the road there is going to be no warranty. I'm giving my phone a full 48 hours in the bag of rice so when I get home tonight it's going be the moment of truth. I was so excited to get this device and I just rooted it and it was all going so smoothly just a very very frustrating weekend. You got to risk it for the biscuit

Re: R.I.P. Mr. Galaxy, III
So a guy you barely know did this? You might want to send him a copy of "How to win friends and influence people". Good luck with the email. Hopefully it accomplishes what you want. You also may want to talk directly to your friend if this guy doesn't respond within a reasonable time frame.

Re: R.I.P. Mr. Galaxy, III
So what was this guys' demeanor after he pushed you into the pool - meaning after he realized you have your wallet and phone on you? Was he apologetic? Did he offer to make amends? What has you friend said about it? I'm just trying to see if this ****** bag is going to be a stand up guy or tell you to pound sand.
This one may end up in small claims court. - 07-31-2012, 09:59 AM #21
I believe an *** whooping is in order. I mean who just pushes someone that u don't know. Unless there was a motive. Maybe he saw ya phone, got jealous, saw u put it in ya pocket and said if that guy walks by the pool I'm gonna push him in.
Who knows but right now he would be wearing 3 shoes.........2 on his feet and 1 in his ***.

Re: R.I.P. Mr. Galaxy, III
Seems like you are taking a nonchalant approach to this situation as if it took members posting for you to take action, before you even considered sending an email? Had that been the normal person, they would have probably beat dude **** on the spot and issued an ultimatum....Maybe I'm the only 1 that is looking at this from my perspective, but your thread appears like an invitation to your SG3 funeral instead of a thread on how you took physical and legal action against this person......*Shrugs*

Re: R.I.P. Mr. Galaxy, III
I was pretty mad yesterday when I was talking with my buddy about it and trying to get this guy's email address. I was going to send and email anyway and demand some money for the phone. I could have been clearer about this situation, but yes I am demanding that he repay for it and all that.
When it happened I was in shock, but I think he knew the gravity of the situation. I'm pretty sure that he has a SGSIII as well so he knows what a kick *** phone this is. I wasn't going to go ballistic at the hotel pool party. I just tried to play it off because I would have to spend the rest of the afternoon with my buddy and his friends... including this assclown. The way that we left it was that he was going to have to pay to replace it. The other kicker is that my $400 wallet was in my pocket as well so that sucks to... being out more than $1000 for a stupid prank.
I sent him a email this morning and he asked if I had insurance (I don't). He also thinks that I said something about having him only pay for half of it (I did not say that). If anything he owes me 100% for the wallet, phone, and 30 buck activation. I'll let you know how it gets resolved.
This thread is more of a sad tale. I was going to go after this guy anyway but all your encouragement is showing me more and more that I am doing the right thing by demanding a new device. You got to risk it for the biscuit
