Tips for newbie please.....
We just got our new galaxy s3....looking for tips on battery life. Mine has only been on for about 2 hours and is down 10% already.
I amy very well be returning the phone to Verizon Store as thanks to this forum I found out the sales guy lied....the difference between the 16GB abd 32GB is NOT the additional card, but in fact the 32GB has 32 GB internal memory + whatever card you install......I am ticked off - 08-03-2012, 08:04 AM #2
Re: Tips for newbie please.....
Battery life on this phone is actually pretty good. I certainly wouldn't be making a judgement on battery life after just 2 hours. I found that I used my phone A LOT the first couple days playing with it and setting it up. Battery life was atrocious. My wife has an iPhone 4, which arguably gets very good battery life. We had our phones sitting side by side yesterday with the same amount of use and mine had 76% and hers 74% at 4:30 in the afternoon. They both came off the charges at around the same time as well.
As far as the internal storage goes. I have the 32 + I installed an extra 32 SD card. Lots of storage for a little more money. If you got the wrong one, exchange it for the one you want. You will be very happy with this phone.Samsung Galaxy S4 - AT&T

A bit off topic but what would one need with 32gig on a phone ? I have 16 plus 8 on the card and that seems more than enough for over 1000 songs, a few movies and lots of pics

Re: Tips for newbie please.....
I got the 32GB model and a 64GB card. I'm honestly not sure what I'll use it for since I have everything in the cloud (minus about 100 songs I keep for offline play for if I'm without a signal or something, and the occasional movie or two for flights that I swap in and out).
But it's peace of mind....I'll be able to record my kid's entire school play (as an example) and not have to worry in the least about running out of space.
After fighting with my old Evo 4G (with a measely 1GB of internal storage and an 8GB card) I just decided I'd rather be safe than sorry, so got as much storage as I could.
<sarcasm>Speaking of questions like "what would one need with 32gig on a phone", why would anyone ever need a computer with more than 256MB of RAM?</sarcasm> - 08-03-2012, 12:01 PM #7

I was just curious. I am nearing filling my 8gb card but have not stored anything other than apps on the device.

+1 on what jneusch had to say, I had a very similar experience. After the 1st day or 2, I "conditioned" my battery for several days by letting it drain all the way down and then fully charging it back up. I would like to think my use is moderate and by my calculations I could easily go 24 hours on average. I love my GSIII, not perfect but Awesome none-the-less...

You may find Verizon doesn't have the 32gb in stock. My local store didn't have any so I ended up ordering one - Verizon shipped it next day at no charge. I started with a 16gb and found the user has 12gb available out of the box. Not that I anticipate filling it up, but for an extra fifty bucks, why not get the double space? Now the 32gb version gets the user 28gb available. I also have a 64gb sd card so I am good to go. I figure this one will be a keeper until the Note 2 drops.
