Default Help me decide - going from Galaxy Nexus to SIII

    Need some info.

The reasons I want to get rid of the Nexus - the speaker really sucks, so hard to hear when I play Youtube Videos when in a place that is not dead quiet, also not that great when trying to hear talk shows while taking a shower, camera SUCKS and so does the signal. Curious if users can comment if the SIII is better in these areas. I can get a brand new 32GB white SIII for a little over $500 and think it may be worth it. Ifelt the SIII and damn its think and feels nice.

Now, I always just run stock because I'm the mobile admin at work and I need to expierence what my mobile users expierence.... I hated the signal and the battery so much in the Nexus (only 3G where I am so I can't comment on 4G signal) that I could only stand using the Nexus for a month or two before I went running back to the iPhone 4S.. and I am NOT an Apple fan!

Now that I went to the Galaxy S3 I have no desire to use the 4S ever again. It's good.

I went from a GNex to the S3 and the S3 is better in every way, especially battery life. I even have the extended battery in the GNex.

FYI, you shouldn't have a smartphone in the bathroom with you when you shower because the high humidity levels could eventually cause problems for the device. Electronics + moisture usually don't get along real well.

Yes, yes, and yes. The speaker/volume issue is what made me sell my Nexus.

Agreed. Do it. Better in every way. It even "feels" better in the hand. You won't be disappointed.

I just sold my nexus. The battery life is pretty poor even with the extended battery in it. The S3 seems to be outstanding so far on that front. The screen is much better also. Just not sure i like touchwiz vs. stock android. Guess I will learn to deal

Speaking to the sound part, I believe the S3 has a very good amplifier in it. You'd have to look it up, but something about it makes it special or at the very least better than most.

Compared to the GNex, the screen is better (much better quality at low brightness levels), the battery life is massively better (even comparing to the OEM Samsung GNex 2100 mAh extended) and the signal/reception quality is better (and not just # of bars, but actual, usable signal).

The GNex of course has the benefit of an unlocked bootloader and tons of developer support. With the GS3, loading community ROMs takes some extra work and skill, and certain things don't work on the stock system (the broken LED notifications for 3rd party apps being the one that bugs me the most).

I always go stock on my phones so I never do any of that fancy stuff though that may change in the future but right now I will keep it stock. If there is a way to unlock the boot loader I may do that before activating it but if not then no big deal. I just got a sweet deal on a 2 week old white 32GB with a bunch of accessories so I am excited to get it by the end of the week.

I'm not impressed with the S3's reception. Compared to my Bionic it is weak. I haven't noticed having any better reception (with the S3) over my wife's Nexus.

Now that she is using my Bionic (for improved reception) I'm going to put a custom ROM on her Nexus and use it for a while. I should get a much better idea of it's reception then.

Forgot to mention the whole SIM not found error that you can get with the S3. I've got that before and you can't do anything except reboot and hope it fixes it.

I am a former Bionic user as well. I can't tell a difference in signal between it and the Bionic.

I am not aware of this, this is something that just happens randomly with the phone?

My wife's and my SG3 have not had this problem, ever. Some have though.

Poor signal, poor battery life, poor camera, that should be enough reason(s) to get rid of it....I did.

I had the SIM not found error again today (2nd time total) it cleared up after about 5 minutes. But during that 5 minutes I had no connectivity... (On the S3)

Yeah, I'm going to sell my GNex on Craigslist real soon. The GS3 is a beast.

If you use led notifiers from within each individual app will they show the correct colors and shut off when they should or do you get the green led on all the time?

This issue has scare me away from the s3.

Personally I think the nexus is better. I like the pure vanilla experience and never had a issue with the volume or youtube. Both Samsung products so guess it's personal choice
