Yet another battery usage thread
I've had the SGSIII for a month now. Overall I really like the phone. Though it could use a little more battery life so I was trying to look into battery usage. I installed GSam battery manager and I am attaching two screenshots from it.
The first screenshot shows that screen used 18.3% battery and it was on for 44 minutes. Apps used 41% of life. However, it also shows that Phone radio used almost 40% battery in 10.30 hours! Is this normal? What can be done to reduce this rate of consumption?
Second screenshot details the 41% use by apps. The Android system alone used 12.7%. What can I disable to reduce this? I've already disabled some bloatware. - 08-11-2012, 11:43 AM #2

Is that usage in an area with LTE? Looks like LTE at least at the time/location the screen shot was taken. LTE does consume more power then 3G on my phone (not a GS3)
How much talk time did you have during that time? The time displayed appears to show total time and radio time are nearly the same, so does not indicate actual talk time.Last edited by Gehrbox; 08-11-2012 at 11:52 AM.

For the radio to be using only 40% in 10.5 hours is actually very good for a smartphone - especially one with a giant screen, LTE and not the biggest battery. What are your battery life expectations here?

Re: Yet another battery usage thread
I would also add the following:
Your screenshots show the phone has used 65 percent of battery and been on about 10.5 hours or 630 minutes. That works out to a bit over 16 hours on time for the whole battery. That is an outstanding number for any smartphone and especially for LTE.
