    Default Galaxy S3 worth it?

First off I am loving this phone compared to the nexus. I have only had it for two days but completely satisfied so far.

However I am sad I lost my unlimited data. What can I do to get it back? Anyone have luck with this? Or at least to get to 4 gigs?

I am having issues where it is telling me my SIM is out every so often.

Should I exchange this one? The rep at the store said mine was new and would be ok. But he's wrong clearly.

Regardless of this I love this phone.

Assumption of liability is probably the only way to get unlimited data if you lose it.

Call Verizon, they will send you a new SIM and or phone.

When you say assumption of liability what do you mean?

You assume someone else's account. If a friend or family member has an account with unlimited data plan that they are willing to give up, then they would call Verizon and tell them that they wanted the account transferred to you. Then you call in, give your info, possibly a credit check, and you then assume liability for their account.

Optionally, if you do not know anyone who has an account with unlimited data plan that is willing to part with it, then you can purchase one on ebay or whatever.

You sure you can do that? I have 2 phones on my account - my wfies bionic is unlimited and mine is 4gb and when I called a few months back they said no, she would lose her unlimited. The only way I can get her unlimited is to also have her phone # which I can't do since I use my phone for business.

According to the training material that was leaked prior to the Share Everything plans going live, an AOL wouldn't allow unlimited data to carry over.

So to make matters better. The rep told me I would get 4 gigs and I only have two.

I believe that that is correct, you cannot transfer your phone number to an unlimited data line(you have to use the existing number on that line or perhaps a new number) , but, you could use your wife's phone and have calls and texts forwarded from your line to her line, and have calls and texts from her line forwarded to your line. I believe that this may work, but I have not tried it. Or perhaps you can open another line on the family share.

So far my only major complaint with this phone is the locked bootloader(yes I know there are work arounds but still).
I feel the locked bootloader will cause not as much development of custom Roms.Because of that fact I dont expect it to ever match the nexus on customablity .

I have no desire to get the S3 development phone that may come out .

Other then that fact I am happy with the phone as I feel it has great battery life, a good camera, and little better signal strenght then my nexus(varies on how much better strenght depending on location at that point in time).

When I first bought the phone, there was a SIM card error when the Verizon rep first put it into the phone. He switched it with another one and I haven't had a single problem.

The best part is mine was labeled with update. He told me it wouldn't have the issue.

I have to say that the ONLY time I ever get the SIM card error is when I am in a known weak area for phone coverage and the signal drops to no bars, then like clock work the "No SIM card"
error pops up and as soon as I move into an area that has phone coverage (NOT data coverage, phone coverage) the error message disappears and does not come back and everything works as it should until I go into the same weak area or any other area that has real weak signal, I can reproduce this 100% of the time. These are areas I've always had trouble with on other handsets like my Thunderbolt and all of my Motorola phones so I know it's the area and not the phone.

My thoughts are that there may be a software bug in the OS that when it looses complete phone service, rather than just saying no service it automatically defaults that there may be a SIM card issue.

I have had zero problems with this phone so far, the battery is unreal compared to my nexus and its just a real good phone. The only issue I have which is touchwiz related is what I wrote on another thread, if a row of numbers are hyperlinked to a web site in an email it won't go to the web site, the link brings up the dialer. That is annoying but its touchwiz.

Sounds like the situation I had. When I bought mine, the Verizon rep told me that he couldn't do anything to help me keep the unlimited data. Then while he was activating it: "well, the computer still says you still have unlimited data, so it looks like you kept it."

How did you get back on unlimited? I'm debating on getting the S3 since I will lose my unlimted data plan.

New to the S3 myself. Where did you get the blue widget in your screenshot with the quick buttons?

    Thanks!

That widget is called "Power Toggles". The default color of the background is black but you can change it and you can add whatever toggles you want. You can have one widget for all your wireless connections (GPS, Bluetooth, Data, etc) and then add another widget and have it set up with all music controls (play, pause, etc)

I called with the intention of convincing them to give me fourban gigs. The rep said I still could have unlimited. SOLD!

I know it sounds crazy but it was that easy.

The S3 blew me away. I came from Blackberry 9930 (I still love my bb btw), love the beautiful screen and this thing is quick. Definitely worth it.
