Anybody else think the facebook app is a little meh?
I've used it on an iphone, as well as my old blackberry. I can't believe it, but I think it was better on the berry.
One, the font is not adjustable and I find myself straining to read it. Yes, I need glasses but won't do it yet
Two, seems buggy. Even when in 4g, it sometimes takes forever to load. And when it does load sometimes, the pic doesn't pull up and you have to refresh the screen.
I've tried deleting and reinstalling just to see if it helped, and it didn't. - 08-13-2012, 08:29 AM #2
Re: Anybody else think the facebook app is a little meh?
Agreed.
Every single time I use it I get angry and usually vent that I dont understand how a mutli million (billion?) dollar company that was founded by "coders" could produce such absolute garbage .
It baffles me as its not exactly the most complex peice of software; yet version after version continue to suck on this platform. - 08-13-2012, 08:31 AM #3
Each version gets worse I think. If I had Internet at home is ditch the app

I still use the 1.6.4 version of the app! It still works and loads super quick as it doesn't have the additional crud..

Re: Anybody else think the facebook app is a little meh?
Didn't even think of that. Just moved from a berry, so I'm accustomed to having to do everything through apps cause the screen was so much smaller and the browser sucked so bad.
I'll give that a try and see how that works out. Although you can't check in or do anything like that from the web version so there is a tradeoff.
Glad to hear I'm not the only one that thought the FB app was terrible. Hopefully it improves. It was decent on my berry and very good on the iphone. - 08-13-2012, 09:50 AM #8

Re: Anybody else think the facebook app is a little meh?
Having had a Blackberry before, I have to agree that it was much better than this crap they push out nowadays.

Re: Anybody else think the facebook app is a little meh?
^ that won't help improve an app much. Although it's unlikely any fb app devs scour this forum, voicing displeasure can help improve an app rather than ignoring it.

Re: Anybody else think the facebook app is a little meh?
Voicing displeasure itself wont help improve an app. It'll probably help the devs in seeing it. It's up to them to decide if they want to improve it or not. Apparently if it's still sucking over these times, then they aren't improving it, or doing a bad job at it.
The app works fine for me. - 08-14-2012, 09:16 AM #20

Re: Anybody else think the facebook app is a little meh?
You know I immediatly wrote this comment off as being avoidant of the problem. Then today when I loaded a new ROM on my phone and was going through the process of installing my apps again, decided to skip the facebook app and tried using mobile site on the chrome browser.
Credit goes to you lkkiml, the mobile site is much better than the app. It loads and navigates much much faster than the app.
So true while this doesnt address the ridiculous fact that the official app sucks....the alternative is very usable. - 08-14-2012, 02:55 PM #23
