    Default Early Upgrade

Just had to post this experience. Have multiple lines with verizon and wanted to upgrade one of the lines 16 days early. Called late last night and BOY was that a mistake. Very Very non helpful and just out and out rude in declining to do the early upgrade. Called again this morning and got a completely different response. They were more than happy to do the upgrade a whopping 16 days early and get my son a brand new SIII. Moral of the story don't ever call late on a weekend to get some customer rep love.

Sprint did the same thing to me, so now I'm on Verizon. My OG Evo4G died a violent death, and Sprint told me to open another line, and cancel the number I've had since 1996. Nope, paid a $50.00 cancellation fee, had BB port my old number to Verizon, and here I am...

As long as your rep is cool they normally can authorize upgrades 2-4 months early. I have done it many times.

I also have Verizon. When I asked if I would be able to upgrade early (upgrade date is the 5th of October), I was told that they don't do upgrades to phones less than 90 days old. I figure I can wait the 12 days, but I'm thinking that what they said is lies. LIES!

Your right but they also could upgrade me 16 days early especially considering the fact that I have 5 lines and spend over 300 a month and have been a verizon customer for over 8 years. I think I'm entitled to a little extra luv from Big Red.

    Not without a supervisor approval.

Probably a lazy csr. They probably have to get supervisor approval.

You deserve it for sure...but you're not *entitled* to it, IMO.

I've done the same thing many times. If I get someone who won't budge, I wait a while and call back. Generally, if I tell them my current phone isn't working and I'd rather upgrade early (and extend my contract, of course) than pay for an expensive replacement, they're usually willing to work with me, as long as I'm at least pretty close to my designated upgrade window....and keep a polite, positive tone while on the phone.

I've been hearing stories that trying to get an early upgrade to get an iPhone 5 is proving to be really difficult, but I'm guessing none of us here have to worry about that!

I wasn't due for an upgrade until the end of November but the right side of my screen on my thunderbolt stopped working after sitting in 120 degree heat this summer...I learned how to work my way around the phone for a month but it was beginning to make me nuts so I decided to call Verizon customer service last Monday afternoon...the man was so nice and let me do it with no problem..I really wasn't expecting them to let me upgrade so soon but they did!

Yeah, that seems to be the key for me as well...as long as I'm close to my upgrade and politely explain that I really can't use my phone, they'll usually work with me. I think the main thing is not to just call up and act like a spoiled brat acting like they owe you something they do not.

My sister works for Verizon...I'm almost positive it is a policy that after 20 months you can upgrade, and whatever day that falls on you can get your phone a week before that. That's what I did. My Droid X was soooooo slow and the ROM support was weak by the time I started the hacking game.

I called and got 3 days early yesterday without any problem. 16 is a bit more but still not all that much. Not like you're asking for 16 months or anything.
