    can S3 use the Samsung TecTile app and read NFC tags sold on eBay/Amazon? or do I have to buy the TecTiles made by Samsung? Thanks!

    Yes. The SG3 can use the Samsung TecTiles App + Tags on Ebay & SG3 can use other NFC Apps like NFC Task Launcher + Samsung Tectiles tags.

    Pretty much all NFC tags will work, no need to buy expensive Tectiles
