Looking for an invisible widget

I'm interested in knowing if such an app exists. I want to be able to tap on an empty home screen and have my weather app appear. Does this make sense?

Try Ultimate Control Widget. It allows you to make custom widgets if any size, with any image/background. I haven't messed with it much, but may be what you need.

Nova allows you to open any app by double tapping on any empty space.

This is something like what I want. But I'm not interested in a launcher

Nova is about as close as I've seen to get what you want. It has gestures that can do what you need. I have it set up when I swipe up it launches the browser, swipe down it launches my weather, dbl tap it launches go sms. Pretty cool launcher!
