Help with a stupid question....

Since I am using POP for emails, does the "sync" need to be on to retrieve emails? Thanks for anyones feedback.

Sync tells Android to go out periodically and fetch email from the server. Otherwise you have to manually sync to see if you got new email. Kind of a poor mans push, but more of a pull.
