Can't see who's calling when out doors

Ok so whenever I'm outside and my phone rings I can barely, if at all, see who's calling. The screen is just too black for me to see who's calling. How can I make it so that it's not so dark when receiving a call. Turning the brightness all the way up would just easy up the battery. Any ideas?

Custom ring tones for all callers may eliminate the need to see the screen. Otherwise you will probably have to turn up the brightness.
