Volume ctrl problem with headphones

So at the gym, my headphones start magically increasing and decreasing the volume on their own. Any thoughts? Was listening through jabra headphones with volume ctrl and mic and was using power amp as the player. Am guessing it has to do with the headphones volume ctrl and mic. Never happened before. Phone is un rooted
Any thoughts appreciated

Are these Jabra headphones wired or bluetooth?
If they're wired, it's possible that something is shorting out as the wires flex, and it would be time to ditch those. You could try the stock headphones and see if the same thing happens - it's also possible that the plug is jiggling around in the connector and causing that.

You mean like by buckets of sweat dripping onto the mic / volume control? That wouldn't do anything, would it?
