Black Screen?

My S3 was charging today in my truck while I was at work. I went to check on it and it said "charging stopped due to battery temp" this happens in florida quite a bit. Well I got home and charged my phone and it powers up yet my screen stays black. The buttons light up but no screen. Any suggestions?

You should take the battery out for ten minutes or so, then reinsert it and power it up. If it acts like the phone is booting normally you can see if the touchscreen is working - just have someone call the phone and swipe like you normally would to answer.

I read that someone was able to resurrect their black screen by putting the phone into freezer for a couple of minutes, but it sounds like your screen got overheated and is toast. Replacement screen assemblies run about $130; it might be better to invest that in a new phone (the Moto X is $100 off today for the 32GB version).
