You should take the battery out for ten minutes or so, then reinsert it and power it up. If it acts like the phone is booting normally you can see if the touchscreen is working - just have someone call the phone and swipe like you normally would to answer.
I read that someone was able to resurrect their black screen by putting the phone into freezer for a couple of minutes, but it sounds like your screen got overheated and is toast. Replacement screen assemblies run about $130; it might be better to invest that in a new phone (the Moto X is $100 off today for the 32GB version).
