Default How good is the HTC One? Leaving Lumia 928...

With the lack of app's, notification center issues and many other issues with the Lumia 928, I have decided to go Android.
All reviews state the HTC One is the Best of 2013.

Looking for any pro's/con's with the phone?
Is it really slippery? The Lumia is too slippery and fragile. I will not anyone use it to take photo's in fear they will drop it.
Do you get Facebook notifications instantly?
    Can you change sounds easily?
Will the battery get me thru a day?

    Thanks

The HTC One is a great phone, really good choice if you're using Android for the first time.
    1. Don't think it gets slippery, it's metal, not plastic like some other Android phones or the Lumia line.
    2. Yes, you should be getting them when anything is sent
    3. Do you mean like ringtones and notification sounds?
    4. From what I've seen the battery life is great, so unless you're a heavy user it should easily get through a day

I'd be equally curious as to what you find wrong with the windows phone. I think the htc one is in fact the best phone I've ever owned, but in getting windows 8 computer, and now thinking about a surface pro, also thinking a windows phone would fit perfectly. Was always scared about the lack of apps, but is there anything else?

The HTC One is a nice phone. It's pretty easy to set up notifications and customize (sounds, widgets, wallpapers, etc.) Android phones. Battery life is good but not spectacular. Should get through full day with regular use.

Pros: very nice display, great speaker, good specs

Cons: 4 MP camera, non-removable battery, no SD card slot,

Several users have experienced an issue with the camera. The camera can produce a purple tint in pics due to heat issues. This may also occur in low light settings.

I had a 928 also - got rid of it for the same reasons as you - not enough apps. I really wanted to like it, but - oh well.

I have had literally dozens of phones since Android is out and this phone all around is the best of the lot.

The only issue I have with it is the battery - I am a moderately heavy user and at the end of the day when I get home - usually around 50-60% so it will get you through the day - the battery on the Lumia lasted a little longer (not much).

The screen is simply amazing - no other words to describe it - not fake looking like the Samsung Galaxy AMOLED screens. Sounds are great and easy to change.

    Good luck!

LarryG, I run Win 8.1 on my PC and whether you have iPhone, android, windows, all the same when syncing. Windows phone synced easily. Moving music was easy. The lack of apps and all these Beta apps and notification center was huge for me. Windows still does not have a FB app that ios or android have and work. I do not receive instant notifications, some don't even come thru. Adding pics and the ease is difficult on Windows phone. I had no issues w/ ios. Twitter on windows is ok. Many features missing. Battery life when using stinks. Standby is incredible. Camera is not that great. I did not buy the phone to become a photographer and editing my pics is not what I do. Limited text tone sounds. I like my icons all on top row of phone, battery, WiFi, etc...not the case w/ windows phone. This phone is very generic. Easiest to use IMO. Email is flawless, beautiful screen. I gave it a shot but at the end of the day, I need better integration w/ social media sites, ease of use in those social media apps. Windows is awful in this department. Maybe 2 yrs from now they will catch up. For now, I am excited to go Android!

Similar situation...cracked my 928 and it's too expensive to fix

I, on the other hand genuinely enjoy WP8 and don't really have any issues with the apps, but this is my opportunity to try Android again - my last android phone was the original Droid X, so I'm guessing it's changed a lot since then. Most reviews out there point to the HTC One as one of the best out so I've been eyeing it as well.

Rumors of the Lumia 929 are floating around, and if that comes out in the near future I may be tempted by that. Tough decisions!

I've only had my One for a week now but it is an awesome phone. I came from another android phone but the battery was terrible. With the One I easily make it through a full day. Came off charger at 730am EST and it's now 1am the next day and it's still at 47%. On my old Rezound I was lucky to make it to lunch with out reaching for the charger.

Apps, well android has them all. Thre isn't an IOS app that doesn't coexist in Android as well...at least not one that I can think of that matters.

Moving pictures and music is easy too if you know what your doing. With mot android phones, you'll enable USB debugging and then plug the phone into the computer. You can then navigate to the folders that say "music" for music or find the pictures folder. What I really like is the ease of adding custom ringtones and notifications into the folders labled "ringtones" and "notifications". Doesn't get much easier than that!

The phone is a tad slippery but a case would solve that....I'm just gonna rock it naked. Worked for the Rezound so that's what I'm doing here too.

Not sure about Facebook notifications. I imagine they would come through push style but can't say for sure cause I turned them all off.

All in all I'm VERY happy I went with the One. I'd do it again in a heartbeat. Can't thing of any cons to put in here. Camera has been great, battery life has been great, and it's just a beautiful phone with a very slick and fast interface.

I get 15-17hrs consistently on mine. I'm a VZW rep and a power user.

The 4 UltraPixel camera is awesome. It is comparable to the 5s. Takes better pictures than S3 and S4 hands down in my comparisons.
