Inductive charging for the Rezound
Anyone know if the Rezound will support inductive charging?
I saw a comment on one and only one of the review sites that said it did but with no details....would the capability require a new door as on the TBolt or would it be built in? Would the door be available at release or would you have to wait a few months like on the TBolt. I saw a video animation about SIM card install for the Rezound and couldn't make out any connector pads for an inductive charging door like the TBolt uses.
I use inductive charging on my TBolt and I love it....actually removed the extended battery setup and replaced it with the standard battery and the inductive charge door...lighter, smaller than the extended battery setup and really easy to set it down on a charging pad throughout the day....the battery lasts forever...
I would have to think long and hard before I would decide to get a phone without that capability. - 10-28-2011, 03:58 PM #2

Re: Inductive charging for the Rezound
I saw in one of the unboxing video that the rezound has the inductive back cover built in from factory.

Re: Inductive charging for the Rezound
I watched that last night and he said earlier that it had the inductive charging cover, but then later he backpeddled and said he'd have to confirm that. So we don't know 100% that the stock cover indeed has inductive charging. I would be really surprised if they did, since I cannot think of one phone that came with it out of the box. Even the Palm phones had it only as an option. Plus, beings that it's a Verizon phone, you can bet they're gonna squeeze every penny out of it they can.

Re: Inductive charging for the Rezound
Now that I think about it, the thunderbolt and Inc 2 also had some antennas in the back cover. I think it's the same with the Rezound.

Re: Inductive charging for the Rezound
I tested my Rezound (with standard back) on our inductive charger and it does not charge. I believe, as with most other phones, that you'll need to buy the inductive back separately.

Re: Inductive charging for the Rezound
I am also using induction charging on my TB..love it! what induction pad are you using..the LG one? my phone gets really warm if I leave it on the pad all night...like it is not shutting off when the battery is fully charged??? does yours get very warm after a couple hours? There is nothing on the induction pad to indicate that it shuts off when the battery is full..so I assume the battery must shut itself off to prevent overcharging if left on the pad for too long?? thanks!

Re: Inductive charging for the Rezound
Inductive charging performance update....
With my thunderbolt inductive charging, I used two different charging pads, the single station pad from verizon and the dual station QI pad from Energizer. Both worked well with the thunderbolt including when a silicon case was installed on the Thunderbolt.
The Rezound also works well with both charging pads with one exception. The rezound will not charge on the energizer pad when a silicon case installed on the Rezound while its charges fine on the Verizon pad.
The Rezound works fine with both charging pads if a silicon case is not installed on the Rezound. - 11-25-2011, 10:33 AM #15

Re: Inductive charging for the Rezound
Standard battery only, wont fit the extended battery. Works fine if you set it on a charging pad whenever your around one...battery lasts forever.
If I'm going on a trip I put the extended battery in since I dont want ot pack the charging pads. - 11-25-2011, 11:46 PM #19

Re: Inductive charging for the Rezound
it's "wireless" charging. basically, you have a mat of sorts plugged into the wall charger. your phone with the optional inductive back cover can be charged simply by placing the phone on the mat, you do not need to plug any cables to the phone to charge it with this setup

Re: Inductive charging for the Rezound
I've got the inductive back cover for the HTC Rezound on order for Tuesday delivery. The Verizon store didn't have one in stock but they're mailing it to me. They had no insight on which inductive charger pad I should use. I'd like to try a Pre Touchstone but am not sure about where the magnets are located on the Touchstone or how they'd align with the Rezound inductive cover. I know someone with a Touchstone and will give it a try.

Re: Inductive charging for the Rezound
yes, you need to buy the inductive cover as well as the wireless charging pad
If that doesn't work, just go to and search for "HTC6425-WLDR" for the back and " UNIWRLCHG" for the pad. For the pad, you can also buy any "Qi" inductive charging pad such as the Energizer pad.

No, you can't use the Touchstone with the ReZound cover. If you wish to use the Touchstone, you'd have to modify the phone similar to what this person did on his Evo.
