Any compelling reason(s) I shouldn't get the Rezound?
I'm having some signal issues with my Galaxy Nexus and am seriously thinking of trading it for a Rezound. This may happen as soon as today. Anyone have any reason(s) I should stay away from the Rezound. I've mostly only heard good things about it. Thanks.

Re: Any compelling reason(s) I shouldn't get the Rezound?
Only reason people aren't happy with the rezound is that it doesn't have permanent root/S-Off which allows for ROMS. Oh and there's a ton of Verizon bloatware on here. Temp root lets you kill it all and remove sense if you so choose, however it only disables the bloat/sense because we don't have permanent root yet.

Re: Any compelling reason(s) I shouldn't get the Rezound?
I had an Incredible for almost 2 years and never rooted, so this isn't a deal breaker for me. With that being said, you said "yet", does that mean permanent root will happen, it's just a matter of time?
Can someone explain Beats audio to me? Is this software on the device I assume? What is it exactly? Thanks."I thought I wanted a career. Turns out I just wanted paychecks."

So Beats is a music player? That you would use to play locally stored music? Thanks.

Re: Any compelling reason(s) I shouldn't get the Rezound?
Yet. I saw an article that Beats has released code to allow 3rd party devs to write beats code. Plus this is just the first device to sport the Beats software. If other devices follow, or some other audio becomes popular on devices (like Bose), player app devs will be pushed to write code for them. With it just being this one device the push may not be strong enough to get more than one or two in the next few months to a year. I have faith that someone will want to take advantage of the offering.

Re: Any compelling reason(s) I shouldn't get the Rezound?
How is the 4G coverage in your area? If your area is strong, you should see good battery life which is typically a knock on HTC phones. I have had my phone for about a month and have had zero issues. Dumped the Samsung Charge and have not looked back. I considered switching from the Rezound to the Nexus but the build quality will keep me away. The Rezound is rock solid in that area.

Re: Any compelling reason(s) I shouldn't get the Rezound?
Most people don't buy $100 headphones, and most people are completely idiotic when it comes to EQ's. Beats is the SAMOLED for sound, better than most people know about, but those in the know, another story. You can still download any EQ, but the headphones, even if not really worth $100, sound a million times better than the buds that came with my Desire.
To the OP, the only reason not to get the Rezound, is no ICS for now, and this will be one of the first phones that is supposed to get the promised updates for 18 months, and more timely than in the past. - 12-19-2011, 01:55 PM #18

Re: Any compelling reason(s) I shouldn't get the Rezound?
My Rezound is my first android phone.
I was waiting for the Nexus, and bought this to try. I like the phone enough I'm not going to bother trading it in.
My only issue with the phone is I can burn through the battery in less than a day if I'm not careful. I hear that's pretty common for android phones though. - 12-19-2011, 03:20 PM #20
Exactly. And in 12 months when I'm ready for a new phone I'll probably go back to HTC. Beats was supposed to be the killer feature of the Rezound but the handicapped deployment of it ruined the experience for me.
I will say this though, after living with Motorola's camera technology for a month I have a new appreciation for my old Incredible.

Re: Any compelling reason(s) I shouldn't get the Rezound?
I bought one on Friday on the recommendation of my friend in Georgia who absolutely loves it. Amazon had them for $219 on an upgrade.
Didnt buy the Razr because it is Motorola (I *loved* my Droid 1, but Moto pissed me off with their Nazi anti-root policies). Also...no removable battery is a deal breaker for me. I dont care how thin it is. And while I love Super AMOLED, I dont like the low resolution qHD display. The Razr does look damn cool though.
Didnt wait for the Galaxy Nexus because while it was Super AMOLED and 720p, it is Pentile, and I hate Pentile. Also...no SD expansion...on a NEXUS Device?? WTF Google??? ICS is tempting, and it would be awesome to own another vanilla Android device, but no SD is just asking too much from me.
Yes, Beats audio is a gimmick IMO. But so what? The expensive eatrbuds are NOT a gimmick. Thats a good deal. It is a bulkly battery hog and polluted with Sense, but I get a fast processor, the best display on the market, a removable battery and SD Expansion. I plan on installing LaucherPro asap once I get it and eventually I will root it and free myself from Sense once and for all.
The Rezound may not be perfect, but it is better than anything else I have seen so far. I think I will be happy with it. - 12-19-2011, 03:42 PM #22

Re: Any compelling reason(s) I shouldn't get the Rezound?
Thank you!
My phone is still in transit, but that is a priority for me. After having a Droid for so long, I am spoiled on Vanilla Android. I dont like having layers on top of the real OS.
Is Clean tool a perma-root or a temp-root?
(NM....saw it is temp root. Better than nothing though! Thanks again!) - 12-19-2011, 04:04 PM #24

Re: Any compelling reason(s) I shouldn't get the Rezound?
The earbuds that come with the phone aren't bad. They're not going to be as high-quality as some other brands (Shure, for example), but they're a nice bonus.
As for "Beats Audio," it's basically a gimmick. It's an EQ program that you can mess with to make the music sound better to you. Not much different than any EQ program (like the one built in to iPods). My HP laptop has Beats, and listening to music is PAINFUL on it, no matter how I tweak the settings. When it comes to the music, its all about the quality of the file, quality of the processing (which is where Beats Audio would come in) and the quality of the speakers. Miss any one of those elements, and its like missing the 3rd leg of a stool.

Droid Razr Maxx: This is the Droid I'm looking for.
