General Network Failure when sending photo via MMS

I can't get a photo sent via MMS and have spent hours reading forums trying to fix it, but the fixes out there don't exactly apply to the Rezound. Here's the one that seems most promising (posts #3, 19, and 20): Incredible, APN, Quick Settings Bug, and Mobile Data Switch Issue - Android Forums ...

BUT my xml file does not have [disabled] or the - before the 1 so I don't want to just paste the suggested contents in that file as is suggested for fear of really mucking things up.

Posts #19 and 20 will have you install the Curvefish APN OnOff widget, but I'm cheap and don't want to spend $2.99 just yet if it won't work.

I also don't want to do a factory reset, obvi.

I'm super ticked off right now, anyone else having this problem? It appears to be an HTC and QuickSettings problem.

HELP!

I tried rebooting, battery pulls, clearing data and forcing stops in messaging, turning off wireless, etc. and nothing helped.

So I just drove 10 miles to the top of the mountain to get a 3G signal (here at my home office in the mountain valley I get 1X through my Verizon range extender that runs through my slow-but-better-than-nothing analog DSL line), and the picture message went out no problem.

So maybe I can narrow it down to my wireless network settings interfering or the 1X connection that my DSL line is hooking up with? I have no idea.

MMS photos sent just fine, albeit very slowly, until today, and I don't recall changing any settings.

I see that Verizon has acknowledged today that the Nexus has a low signal strength issue. I wonder if it's affecting the Rezound too, because if I walk out of my office where my range extender is, I immediately drop to 2 bars, then another room away I have zero, where normally I have 3 or 4.

And something I hadn't noticed before while driving down my road today was an "X" above the zero bars. That's new to me.

And I had someone trying to call me while sitting here by the range extender, and they could hear me but I couldn't hear them. Had to travel over the mountain again this afternoon to the 3G signal and that was fine.

So frustrating.

I'm not trying to be an ass, but ever think of moving to a better signal?

I assume because the phone has a better camera than your previous phone, the file is just way too large to send over a weak signal. I have a DInc, and I get message failed notices when I try to send a file over a weak/non-3G signal. Its just the way things work. Aside from moving or finding better coverage with another carrier, not sure what to say.

It's usually pretty slow to send, but I've never had a problem with the photo completely sending. I even Photoshopped this one to make it half the size.

The only way it would send was for me to drive 10 miles to the nearest 3G signal.

I actually had an issue w/ sending an attatched .jpg last night using gmail. I was in 4g coverage at the time, though, but the app just hung in the sending pic process. Took several cancels and resend attempts over the course of the early evening before I had success. Not sure, if that had anythong to do w/ your circumstance but that was the only time I expierienced an issue like that.

Drove down out of the mountains tonight and into town for a meeting, hitting 3G and 4G in the process, did a *228, came home, and retried the MMS photo send...it worked. WTH.

(Turns out it hadn't sent at the top of the mountain on 3G earlier today like I thought it had.)

Guess taking the low road beats the high road sometimes.

We'll see what today brings as I troubleshoot the range extender. Yesterday can go f*** itself. Today I still show zero bars when not right next to the range extender.

FYI, bit the bullet and made the dreaded call to Tier 2 VZW support just now and it wasn't painful at all. Turns out there are 121 trouble tickets in with my exact problem of the network not playing nice with network/range extenders.

So it's not just me. Misery loves company and all that.

BTW, I'm in SoDak and it appears to be an issue in the Midwest. The audio issues are reportedly resolved but they are still working on the data problems. Rebooting extender again later today to see if it's all fixed!

Am I to understand that you called tech. support and they actually provided an explanation. It's true, miracles really do happen. Make sure to thank the b-day boy on 12/25.O:-). It's probably not such a bitter pill to swallow to find out you were one of, at least, 127 neighbors are dealing w/ the same issue.
