App notification settings

Hey guys I have a question.

Have had the Rezound about a week, love it. I am new to Android also.

My problem is I have the stock mail app, which I like, and the gmail app. When I receive an email I usually have both apps show a notification icon on the top bar(sorry for not knowing correct name). What I would like to do is disable the gmail app from showing a notification, as I like the stock mail app(at least so far).

Open GMail app
Menu
"More"
Settings
Select your account
Uncheck "E-mail Notifications" box at the bottom

Gmail allows multiple accounts now, so you have to go into the specific account and change the settings. Even if you only have one GMail account.
