Battery life REALLY sucks

I have had many Android phones and I must say that the Rezound is one of the best (my favorite, adjusted for the era in which it was released has got to be the HTC Incredible followed by the Rezound). The Thunderbolt was one of my worst. Make no mistake though, the Rezound battery life sucks. I have 3 batteries and 2 external chargers. I lose count of how many swaps I do per day, but it is over 2. Even with LTE switched off it sucks. The only saving grace is a wifi network. That deactivates the 3g/4g radios and helps the device to last longer.

HTC, the batteries on your phones suck. The Droid charge lasted 10 hours sometimes. With the Rezound 6 would be considered great.

That said, I really do love this phone, especially rooted.

I work at a place that doesn't get good Verizon service. Friday I got 1.5 hours betwen charges on my Thunderbolt. I got 6 hours out of my new Rezound yesterday and today.

Battery life seems to be HTC's "Achilles Heel" when it comes to their standard batteries. I could not own this phone without the extended battery.

I do completely agree with that. I did buy the extended battery and now i'm happy. Yes the phone does have some more bulk which is a pain at times, but it lasts forever.

I LOVE my Incredible, but I'm hesitant to EVER give it up. Battery life was never great until I installed a senseless rom. It seems Sense is just a battery/resource hog. I WON'T get an HTC with 4g until they do something different about battery life. 6 hours is not realistic at all. I need at LEAST 12 with 18 being ideal. I get that now and more with my Dinc. 4g isn't enough to make me upgrade, especially since I use wifi whenever possible.

Unfortunately, I hate Moto, and touch wiz is not enjoyable. Vanilla is exactly that....eh, vanilla. Sensless right now is the way to go.....Until batteries hold twice the charge at half the thickness. I'm not carrying around a brick.

I'm running a Sense based ROM (Nils' Business Gingersense v1.6) and I get a full day out of it. I'm what I would call a "moderate" user. I certainly don't NOT use because I'm afraid to use up battery.

I came off charger at 730ish this AM, texts, phone calls, web browsing, just general playing around with it and an hour and a half of streaming Pandora over LTE not WiFi, I leave my GPS turned on and my screen up to about 3/4 of the way to max bright...its almost 8pm and I'm still at 47%. Seems pretty good to me. I'd say my WIFI to LTE usage is about 50-50. Better than the stock Incredible battery anyway and I LOVED that phone.

Try getting rid of all the Verizon stuff (yes you'll have to unlock and root) and I'll bet you see an improvement.

Yeah the battery life is not as good since the update. I definitely noticed that. Radio is much better tho... Give and take! I'm a heavy user so I bought the extended and I keep 4G on alllll day!

I prefer the bulk in the extended battery, slap on the original gel mold extended case, and it feels really nice. With the added hump comes added ways to hold the phone, I love that their are countless ways to hold the phone now, but my fav and most comfortable is pinky between bottom and hump, ring on hump, middle on hump, index between top and hump. Let's my thumb have full access to the screen with minimal effort.

Why is the Rezound catching so much flak over battery life? It's the smallest in terms of mAh, and yet it has longer life than the Nexus and pretty much equal to the Razr.
That "always find something to complain about" human characteristic is rearing its ugly head on the Rezound.

..and that's with the standard battery. And no option to get extended battery or even replace one if it goes bad.

The Rezound is actually above average for the current crop of 4G phones. See the table here.

My use varies, but I'd say most of the time I'm a moderate user, and I go about ~25 hours between charges on the extended battery. And I charge when the battery is at 40% capacity.

Well, I did't say that it wasn't better than those. I guess I am just going to have to get used to swapping out batteries. I am running CleanRom 1.65 with no VZ bloatware and I get horrible battery life. I keep everything on except Bluetooth and GPS. Somebody needs to adopt a new battery standard and fast.

I have heard reports of people running Peter Alfonso's Bugless beast on GNex getting 12-16Hrs with 4G switched on. Maybe Scott of Cleanrom renown can adopt some of PA's techniques?

I was not complaining just to complain. I just hate that I am always in the Yellow-Red with this phone.

I understand. I think the stock ROM handles battery life pretty well, so I'm assuming HTC got the hint after the Blunderbolt and worked hard on battery optimization.
I think if you're going the custom ROM route, you'll have better luck with Senseless ROM, which I hear gets pretty damn good battery life.

Yes, that's what I'm going to try next. They seem to be getting pretty good.

Just for comparison, I am using a GNex for the last few days on a custom rom. I am at 80% battery after 4 hours. The Rezound would usually be hovering around 40% at this hour. So Nexus used 20% so far and my Rezound uses 60% or more by now.

Something is very wrong with HTC battery management. If I can, I am going to sell the Rezound and get what I consider to be a lesser phone, the GNex.

I will miss so much about the Rezound, but I can't do this battery swapping all day.

60% in 4 hours? How much use are you putting in? 4G, GPS, Background Data, full brightness, or what?
You'll find that your battery use is out of the norm. Aside from 4G use, which we all know guzzles battery juice like crazy, yours shouldn't be draining so fast.
Did you receive the OTA?

I definitely use it more than the average person, I stream Spotify for 40 mins usually, and browse the internet for about 20 mins during those 4 hours.

I also send about 5 SMS and recieve 5 as well. Probably 1-2 emails of about 1 minute each at 50% brightness.

I applied the OTA components manually as I am rooted running cleanrom. When I borrowed this GNex, I was doing so to reaffirm my Rezound decision, but it is not happening like I thought it would.

Tomorrow I'm testing the 2100 MaH battery which makes the phone slightly thicker, but should last even longer!

I don't know what to do, the Rezound size is perfect for my hands and the voice quality on Verizon has been the best since my old flip phones.

Not to mention the hassle of selling, shipping, finding a GNex etc.

Stock uprooted with no special apps and no alterations. Heavy to moderate usage with stock battery. I played some games streamed Pandora and made some phone calls ans text. Was still above 50%. Don't ask how I did it, I didn't do anything lol. Either I got a battery from God or some people either ovverexggerate or are too heavy. I love my rezound

sent from my htc rezound. haters gonna hate.
