HTC Rezound always deletes my .m3u playlists

I recently picked up an HTC Rezound and it seems that every time it scans for an .m3u playlist it refuses to add to the playlist then it deletes the file itself. I'm using the stock player (since it has the Beats audio).

I did some research and apparently if the phone finds an .m3u file that is empty it will delete the file. However, these files are not empty and have several songs attached to them (I checked the text and it's formatted correctly). One solution was to put a dummy file called .nomedia so that the player would not scan that directory, but all that does is ignore the directly with the playlist entirely.

On my Droid X I just made playlists into .m3u files and transferred them over. From there all the music players picked them up as playlists properly. Unfortunately this bug won't let me do that on the Rezound. Is there a solution to this?

Make sure your m3u's use relative references (directory/file.mp3) instead of absolute references (c:\thisdirectory\thatdirectory\file.mp3)

Thanks for the quick reply. I'm using Winamp to create my playlists (I've tried other programs too) and it appears it's using relative references. For example:

#EXTINF:269,The Walls - Bird In a Cage
Music\NewTunes 7\Bird in a Cage.mp3

I tried saving the .m3u to an upper directory to ensure that the file paths were relative but the file was still deleted by the Rezound. Any other ideas? I've actually got a playlist to work 1 time..... then it was deleted again.

Try creating one and swapping the \ for / since Android is Linux based...

No dice on that either. In fact, I just got a .pls file to work randomly but the phone decided to delete that one too.....

This is quite an irritating bug. Does anyone have any other advice as to how to put playlists from your PC to the Rezound?

I'm not sure about playlists though I have noticed some wacky behavior in the past. However, I did notice I was having issues with songs not showing up in the default player, and they would only re-appear upon reboot. I did a little sniffing and it seems related to their vcast media sync.. Under accounts and sync, I noticed the vcast one. I tried to disable it fully but it can't be done, you have to go to the sub-settings and then uncheck each box. Once I did this, I no longer had missing media/music files. I wonder if this will help you? Not sure

Have you updated your phone? Have you done a complete factory reset after said update? I noticed significant improvements in the phone after doing so.

That's one of the first things I did when I got the phone :) . Unfortunately it didn't have any affect on the issue I've been having.

Yes, originally when I got the phone I updated it and did a factory reset. The phone is quite speedy, however this particular bug wasn't cured via the update and reset.

Last question. How are you copying your music files. Via HTC Sync or just mounting the SD and copying?

I'm copying my files directly to the SD card then creating .m3u or .pls files right from the files that are already on the phone. So for example, I have a folder filled with a bunch of songs and I just add them to a Winamp playlist and then export the playlist file. I then copy that file to my phone. The playlist actually shows up briefly in the stock music app and is then deleted within a second or two.

I too have had sproadic issues with deleted playlists. When i create playlists on the device they usually get deleted. I have been using Poweramp lately with better luck. Every other program I've used has had this happen. Amazon MP3. Stock Music player, Winamp, etc.
