The ICS hold up is getting on my nerves.
Recently announced, the Sony Xperia line is getting their ICS update. The Rezound has been under the radar since November; low sales, no desire to push this product on Verizon's end. I have a bad feeling ICS won't be coming for months. If the SGS3 comes to Verizon, or even the HTC One X, I'm bailing on the Rezound. I don't know if anyone else here shares my sentiment, but the 1st quarter promise of ICS was the primary reason I even bought this device.
Thanks for letting me vent. - 04-16-2012, 10:17 PM #2What do you give Akop? A doughnut.....

Seems to me like there pushing it. Does the Razr or Maxx have a leak build w/ firmware in tow that's surfaced yet?

Re: The ICS hold up is getting on my nerves.
Ok, I'm anxious as anyone to get this update but honestly this phone is awesome with or without it...this is only my second Android device but after all of the bugs and nonsense I went through with my droid x (I went through 9 replacements in less than a year) I couldn't be happier with this phone....I've had 0 bugs and with the extended battery I find myself sitting on 60-70% battery life by the time I get in bed.
Verizon doesn't offer a better phone and ICS isnt going to make or break that...whenever you buy a new phone you should know that something bigger and better is right around the corner, its a never ending cycle, but if you get a device like this that works extremely well than you should be happy...this truly is an amazing device and everyone just needs to chill the F out and enjoy it!
BTW..Verizon sucks..not their cell phone service but everything else about them and no matter what phone you get, you should be prepared for them to **** you off one way or another...they are experts at it. - 04-17-2012, 01:23 AM #5

Re: The ICS hold up is getting on my nerves.
Man it feels like the DINC Froyo days!
It will get the update but not having ICS is not limiting you is it?
Yes it's a smooth more integrated OS but the rezound is a good device as is.
When you do get it at least it will be as bug free as possible, otherwise they would have released it a while ago...wait they did and called it the galaxy nexus

Re: The ICS hold up is getting on my nerves.
Yes, b/c that is what HTC told them, Verizon doesn't say things like that b/c they love hearing customers complain. I fully believe they were told Q1 by HTC but HTC wasn't specific on what phones would get it in Q1 at the time of the Rezounds release. It was a generic, blanket statement. The Rezound was not alone in that sales pitch upon release, that fell through on their Moto lineup, as well. How could you want a rushed release, like Froyo>GB, so you have the same issues the the GNex beta testers dealt with for months? From the outside looking in, ICS is damn if it doesn't release on your schedule and just as likely, damned if it does.
P.S.= I say that w/ fond appreciation for all the GNexers who suffered w/ the bugginess of the new OS, for Androids everywhere.Last edited by humpagardengnome; 04-17-2012 at 04:47 AM. Reason: Added P S.

Re: The ICS hold up is getting on my nerves.
OP, if you want ICS and feel that Verizon/HTC is doing you a disservice by delaying it's release on the Rezound then you have three paths to follow.
1) Grab the ICS leak RUU and drop it on your phone. No root necessary
2) Unlock, and drop an ICS ROM on your phone
3) Wait patiently like everyone else.
All three are viable, it's up to you to choose.“Around here, however, we don't look backwards for very long.

because we're curious...and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.”

Re: The ICS hold up is getting on my nerves.
If the release is delayed there is probably a good reason for it. I just bailed on the Droid X, where every release brought 10 new bugs while it fixed 5 old ones. I say to HTC and Verizon - take your time and get it right! Right now my new Rezound is a pleasure to use, let's keep it that way.

Re: The ICS hold up is getting on my nerves.
My jimmies are slightly rustled because I feel like I was lied to so grossly. However, I knew I was being lied to when I bought the phone. I fell in love the hardware and never looked back.
As much as I want "official" ICS, no phone out there is gonna pack the same beautiful screen and awesome camera as the Rezound. So if anyone decides to jump ship, keep in mind that you'll be losing more than you'll gain. - 04-17-2012, 12:21 PM #12

Re: The ICS hold up is getting on my nerves.
Here's a conspiracy for you guys to ponder. What if Verizon is making HTC hold back ICS for the Rezound until Moto has ICS ready for the RAZR?

Actually I believe that this is one if not the only reason for the holdup. If the ota is only 4.0.3 and on the same firmware then we will know that this is true. Verizon is the weak link in the update timeline. I mean look at the xoom. The WiFi version got ics months ago but the LTE has not. Wonder why? Verizon hinds behind a wall and promises nothing so they can do whatever suites them.
I would bet money that the ota will be a long time yet and be the exact same as the leak.

Re: The ICS hold up is getting on my nerves.
This is probably close to the truth
HTC doesn't need the bad press from their own consumers at this point. I 100% believe this is a VZ holdup. HTC wants nothing more than to please their current customers - God knows they are getting skewered by the press and their investors. - 04-17-2012, 03:31 PM #17

Re: The ICS hold up is getting on my nerves.
The way I look at ICS is nothing but problems. Honestly ever time they throw an update on a devise there will be some issues. I myself could care less if we ever get it now because my phone is working great. Just my 2cents

Re: The ICS hold up is getting on my nerves.
While I'd personally like to get a competent OTA version of ICS sooner rather than later, the reality is that those of us who read these forums and websites are the only ones who really care about these updates. I'd argue that we're not as large a portion of the consumer base as you'd think. Your average consumer just wants a device that works and appeals to their sense of aesthetics in both software and hardware. Thereby, Verizon and HTC are in no rush except to attempt to make sure that OTA is successful. Invariably there will always be post OTA issues requiring a patch.

Re: The ICS hold up is getting on my nerves.
Well, in my mind the only real benefit from ICS is multiprocessor support which I'm looking forward to. All the rest is just a different look and feel which you may or may not like better than Gingerbread.
Even running on just one processor core on Gingerbread, the rezound is totally awesome, I want Verizon and HTC to squash the ICS bugs before they push it. - 04-17-2012, 05:08 PM #22a.k.a. RyZR from HoFo
