Discontinuation Of Data Widget
http://www.androidcentral.com/verizo...id-data-widget
I'm pretty sure everyone already knows about this, but how does it make you feel? With the new plans kicking in this week do you feel it's nothing wrong with this or do you feel it is part of a bigger plan by Verizon to get even more money from customers by not being able to track usage as easily? I understand that you can still check your usage from the website or the My Verizon app but how many actually use and like the convenience this widget for a quick glance to keep track of your usage?nerds are super heroes too!!!!!

Re: Discontinuation Of Data Widget
I'm on the fence about it but I never get close to using the 4Gb that I have. I spend a lot of time on WiFi. I know I'm in the minority on that. I thought it was nice to glance at it and see where I was though with my data allotment. Right now, mine is still working. I guess I'll enjoy it while it lasts.
Maybe they are making a better widget/app to take its place? It's a possibility. - 06-26-2012, 08:31 AM #3

Re: Discontinuation Of Data Widget
Well I'm in the minority with you as I only average 2-3GB a month. But I still like to know how much i'm using. It's like having a car without a fuel gauge and having to feel when you need to fill up again. .
It's possible that they are, hopefully they do. Even though I may never go anywhere near 10 GB a month I still like the convenience of having the widget to keep track easier.nerds are super heroes too!!!!!

Re: Discontinuation Of Data Widget
Mine still appears to be still working. Even though I'm on unlimited data I still like to know what my consistent use is in case I need to switch to a tiered data plan down the road.

Re: Discontinuation Of Data Widget
You know that you can see how much data the phone(per app) uses in your data usage menu under settings right? I've personally never used the Verizon data app because I never cared how much data I was using.

Re: Discontinuation Of Data Widget
The goal is to inconvenience the average Joe into a mindset of "oh well, I'm sure I won't go over" and then capitalize on it when they go over the cap. I understand the new widget is going to be focused on the "shared" usage, though. Whoever isn't on unlimited should thank the OEMs for the data management tools.

They probably couldn't get it to work properly with the shared data. I use it only occasionally. If I was on tiered data I would be more upset.

Re: Discontinuation Of Data Widget
Mine is still working and I have switched to the shared plan. I am in day five of my plan, with three smartphones and one dumbphone and we have used only 188 mbs so far. I have used most of that data as I used my phone as a hotspot on and off this past weekend. Our phones, however, live on wifi ... which is why my data usage is so low.
Out of solidarity, I hated giving in and switching to the shared plan, but I could not resist saving $50 a month.~Janet~ - 07-03-2012, 10:12 PM #21
