Default Ics update response from htc via direct email.

I sent an email to htc directly asking about the update and this is what they said when they wrote me back....

I know how important it is to have the latest software available on your Rezound. I’m sorry that you’ve had to wait so long, but I’ll be glad to help you. We expect to have all of our ICS compatible devices updated by the end of August. I understand that our website gave an estimate of June-July. We’re working as hard as we can to meet this deadline, but partner and network testing can delay this process. When the update is available, you will receive a notification on your device prompting you to update. Also, you can keep a check on our social networking feeds, listed below, for the latest HTC information. If you have any other questions or concerns, feel free to let us know. Thanks for being an HTC customer and taking the time to contact us.

End of August? I think it is Verizon's fault because all they do is rant about the Razr like it is God's gift to the smartphone world and is neglecting the true superior phone... The REZOUND. Considering the REZOUND was noted as ICS ready and should have it by Q1 of 2012.... Now it seems like it will be one of the last ones. Really disappointed in Verizon and somewhat HTC for not pushing Verizon.

Personally I feel that the rooting is easy and the roms are plenty. It's time to stop suckling Verizon's update teat, and go about this on your own. You won't look back.

I have to agree with Fallacy on this. It's not worth banging your head against a wall wishing they would release the ICS already. MrSmith has a great post for instructions which are SUPER simple for the Verizon version. make sure though you load the img onto the card before relocking if you've unlocked your phone

I have the latest ICS leak & loving it. Rezound is running smooth if not smoother. I say people need to install the latest leak.

Based on the Razr upgrade experience, I'd say Verizon actually isn't holding this one back.
They posted the software update page on the 22nd, and Moto held it up until the 30th. What would Big Red gain from holding back ICS on the Rezound at this point? I think the blame lies on HTC.

The Rezound is a great phone and I love it, but it isn't even beating out the Casio G'Zone. I don't think any phone is in serious danger of losing sales to the Rezound. If anything, it needs a boost, which Verizon was trying to do with that whole "Black music month" $80 sale.

Definitely held up by Verizon and you'd be ignorant to think otherwise. Why release ICS when they have some new phone coming out soon? Happens with every carrier...No different with Verizon.

Perhaps not. I messed up my phone last nite with the RUU installed and I'm still trying to figure out why. It started with me trying out Chrome. And then Chrome to Phone. And somehow during that experiment. I got a DL that would not stop.....all it said was I was being DL something from google.com. Reboot didn't stop it. So I disabled DL manager, rebooted and then re-enabled. DL stopped. But now I have an error called 'google.process.gapps has stopped' whenever I boot up the phone. I cannot access Google Play apps. Can't DL a thing. After trying several 'fixes' I'll need to re install the RUU again. In effect do a factory reset. So, I've buggered this up in a way I have not experienced in any of my previous phones or roms.

I know we suck as far as sales go, but it is still a selling point for the other phones.

Me: What about the Rezound at $80 Vs the Dinc at $150?
VZW Rep: Well The Rezound is a good phone, but it is running last years software. With the dinc you get the latest and greatest. Lets look at the iPhone....
Me: no lets not. Isnt ICS comming to the Rez?
VZW: yes but it could be awhile. The iPhone on the other hand...
Me: Drop the iPhone stuff...How long for ICS? I like the price and the specs on the Rez a lot...
VZW: Well the update was supposed to come out before our big black music month promo, but got held up. We think sometime this year we will get it out. The iPhone on the other hand...
Me: Stop it with the iPhone stuff. This year?!?!? Isnt JB already out? Why are so few phones running ICS?
Vzw: You can only get JB on one phone and that isn't even official. But with the iPhone....
    Me: (walks away)

Ha ha ha ha. It's very annoying the whole "fragmentation" but if I didn't know there was another OS upgrade (or two in the case of the Rez) I would still pick android over Iphone anyday. Customization. Period (on top of wireless tethering with unlimited data).

Now I was in the store today checking out the New Dinc. If I could get $300 for my Rezound, I would have to give SERIOUS consideration to paying $499 for a Dinc 4g. I've always preferred the 4" screen vs. anything larger, and I do like the ICS. I guess I'm gonna have to find time to install the ICS leak on this thing to see which I like better, but I've always been a fan of the smaller vs larger phone.

I have not used the inc yet, but I know what you are saying. Over 4.3" is just ridiculous. They do it because hardware is much larger these days though so you might as well make them bigger. O and because of the little girl stance that phones need to be half a mm thin and way less than a gram or they are "bulky" like the rezound.

The only reason I want the inc is form factor and s4 processor though. O I want the processor though lol

My next phone will be a nexus device, I am sick and tired of waiting for updates. Even though I have rooted and rom'ed my Rezound with ics, it still has its quirks. And now jellybean is out so ICS isn't even current anymore so you can just go ahead and do a rinse/repeat with the whole ICS fiasco.

They promised last year (or was it 2 years ago?) that Google came up with a strategy with manufacturers and carriers to get more timely updates. In fact it's gotten even worse than ever before.

Is there any reason why HTC can't just put the update on their site. It seems to me all they need to do is put a disclaimer that anyone who downloads and installs it will be out of warranty with just their mobile provider. I would think this would give Verizon an excuse to not worry about helping customers who have (if any) problems with their phones. There must a lot of legal stuff between a manufacturer and a mobile provider that keeps this from happening, but I don't see why.

Personally, I think I'm happy the way itis. Google is heading the way of Apple with telling me what I want and loading jb with their form of bloatware like current and chrome. I'm keeping the rezond as long as possible and hoping they never upgrade it.

    Politics and prioritizing!
I think its a combination HTC and Vzw holding it up. There is no way the latest leak is a final. The final release will be 4.04 instead of 4.03 and global capabilities need installed that are not in the last leak. HTC put out a bunch of phones at once with a bunch of bugs that needs and should get more attention than the Rezound. The Rezound runs very well and is proven on GB. Which in turn gives them time to deal with all the new releases.
Meanwhile if we do see another leak I would guess we would see the ota a week after. If we don't get another leak I think we will see the ota Aug 2 or Aug 9.
Sounds right in my mind, but then it might be the booze talking and the fact I'm feeling sorry for htc's battle and financial losses at the hand of Apple.
