When I click on bootloader, it goes back to the fastboot menu. Should I be seeing something that looks like it is updating?

No you shouldn't have to.

Let's recap

Is the file on the sdcard without it being in any folders?
Is it named ph..... Whatever? Check for spelling

Yeah my bad... When you hit fastboot it should have started updating... Check the things in my last post

Ok ... So, I moved the file out of any folder and it is just sitting on the sd card. I did rename it. After I clicked on fastboot, it took me to a bootloader menu. If I click on bootloader, it goes back to fastboot, so it is back at bootloader right now. Even though I don't see any action, do you think it is updating?

i downloaded to computer and plugged in phone and have HTC F drive and G drive. I found a folder ext_sd, where does the zip file go? Sorry very new with all of this

Well, as you can tell, I am new at this too! :-)

When I moved the file over at first, it was not in a folder but just on the sd card. Apparently, that is where it belongs. I moved my file back from a folder to just the sd card.

Skatergirl... Do the same thing for me please.... Boot into the phone all the way... Using the usb cable connect it to you phone... Set it for disk drive and not charge... The if you double click on the last drive letter and it opens in windows explorer.... Is your phone file there

Well we have not done anything to it yet.... I think it is just pissed it isn't on ics yet.... Lol

Your screenshot shows no ph98img.zip file loaded on the ext_sd. Or your file has a .zip.zip extension but either way your phone is not seeing the file.

Yeah, it goes through the whole drawn out cycle and then when it gets to the password, it goes back to black screen and it reboots. Maybe I should go back to HBOOT and do a factory reset and start all over, cause the phone is stuck in an non cooperating cycle.

Fastboot is for running the executable file from your computer while the phone is connect via USB. You can do it that way but you cannot mix them.

I did a factory reset but now my sd card is not being recognized. I am rebooting to see if that solves the problem. If not, do you have any suggestions?

I do see the sd card on my desktop through the cable. I am placing the zip file back on it.

Also make sure you have it named PH98IMG.zip . If you don't have extensions turned on in windows it might be named PH98IMG.zip.zip (notice the extra .zip)
