Re: Angry Rezound users are banning together!
I owned two devices that actually got their updates when promised. The G1 and G2 both received promised updates when promised.
Also, I have flashed, it was a bit of a headache, but I did it. I am enjoying it as well.
I disagree that people should not say anything. That is a horrible negative message to send out. Yes, we shouldn't and moan about it if we never follow through with any actions. Yet, if you do file a complaint or take some sort of other action, then your complaining/venting is valid. Namely, because you actually did something about it. Companies don't always follow through on their promises, because they know the majority of people won't complain, those who do are told to stop by those who don't see a point.
It's sound advice to tell someone to flash, but we should be supporting each other, not trying to separate each other. - 08-01-2012, 09:51 AM #28
Re: Angry Rezound users are banning together!
I think the point that you're missing is that most everyone here has been through a "missed date" or two already. Everything except the "Early 2012" date has been speculatory and Verizon could argue that even that was speculation. You can write letters, file complaints etc, but with a company like Verizon the only thing that matters is that you're paying them. You can be as unhappy with everything as you are and if they still get your monthly service, they don't care. If you really want them to listen, hit them in their wallets.

Re: Angry Rezound users are banning together!
Because android being open source and Google only controlling 2 phones. Giant companies move slow. It's taken my company a month to decide if they are going to hand out gatorade because it's so hot. In the mean time, it's hot, and by the time they decided, it will be cold. I have not sat and waited not drinking anything though.

Re: Angry Rezound users are banning together!
lol...that soooooo brings back memories of a 2 month long debate we had at one company I worked for. They fought over moving an icon about 4 lines up in the header. As the consultant, I gave up after giving the pros and cons and just had to go to the meetings to watch the fun and get paid by the hour...

Re: Angry Rezound users are banning together!
So what you're saying is keep paying Verizon, but stop expecting the service you were promised? Big companies move slow when the customer base isn't doing a thing about it. Your analogy is nice, but it's a bit different as you're a company employee, and lets be honest most of the time employees are no longer a top concern for most American companies. They can languish on the issue and it's not going to cost them more money or lose them brand recognition.
There is 0 reason why Rezound owners should just accept their fate, especially when their main complaint was a sales point of the phone. There is 0 reason for anyone to EXPECT a company to fail it's own projected update deadline. This is not to say crucify a company if it is late once, but repetitive offenses are not something that should be considered a standard of service. - 08-01-2012, 10:41 AM #36
I don't know if I made my position clear .do what makes you feel good. It is not unheard of to have a company change through protests.
But can we stop having all these threads about it

Only an analogy to point out the promise of providing something in return for a sale. The purchaser has reasonable expectations that in return for purchase the seller will fulfill their obligation to provide what was promised at the time of sale. Verizon did market that this phone would be updated and that was available in writing when I bough mine.
My Windows example was for a free upgrade with the purchase of a new computer so it does not breakdown. If you remember Dell and HP did this marketing ploy with free upgrades to Vista back in the day.

Yeah but you would have to pay for the update without that offer. It's like getting a meal and them promising free beer vs promising water. Water is free anyway, they just would not have to provide it. If we had nexus devises this analogy would hold better, but ya know.
Like I said, I agree with you completely. I'm just letting you know what the opposition is.

Re: Angry Rezound users are banning together!
I have a Nexus device

Anyway, the "promise" is still in effect just the date has shifted. Anyone with "reasonable" expectations on updates would understand that the OTA will get here eventually. Anyone with realistic expectations already flashed the RUU or is trying (Hi Janet)“Around here, however, we don't look backwards for very long.

It was said originally that it would be out early 2012. However, that is obviously not a promise. Anyone in this day and age, if they know anything about computers, know software releases will be done when they are tested thoroughy and ready to roll out. The fact we get no communications about delays sucks, but that is about all that is worth complaining about and going to be listened to. No one is going to bother listening to "perceived" promises, it's not worth giving legitimacy to them.
I do hate the fact Verizon keeps quiet through it all. But that is all that has happened of any consequence. And all anyone in any power will consider listening to, the rest will be politely ignored.

Re: Angry Rezound users are banning together!
It's not false advertising, it's puffery and it's perfectly legal.
Did it ever occur to anyone that perhaps it's not a huge conspiracy against the Rezound. Maybe, just maybe, there have been issues in testing and bugs that Verizon found unacceptable to release to their customers. You always see one of two threads on here. A. Those bastards released a buggy software update and f'd up my phone. B. Those bastards are taking too long to release a software update. Perhaps they just want to get it right both to satisfy their customers and to limit their exposure to customer service complaints/ tech support hours required.
It has been my experience that Verizon is very dedicated to customer service. I really really don't buy all of these threads that Verizon employees sit in dark rooms thinking of ways to screw their customers.
And finally, you do realize that the BBB and FCC take the time to follow up on their complaints. These commissions are funded by tax money (at least the FCC, not sure about the BBB, it may be a private non profit). Anyhow, complaining about a software updated is a waste of resources that could be better used elsewhere. Please stop taking your silly complaints out on the rest of us taxpayers. - 08-01-2012, 04:20 PM #45
Re: Angry Rezound users are banning together!
When Verizon creates a product page listing features on a phone that is for sale, it is advertising. When Verizon says it is going to provide a new feature at a certain time and does not, it becomes false.
And if your theory is correct that the software is still buggy, which I highly doubt since a number of users here have installed ICS and there are nearly no problems to speak of, then both Verizon and HTC should be telling customers that they are inept and can't put together an update and stop leaving everyone in the dark.
Oh ... and one last thing, if I want to use YOUR tax dollars to complain, guess what? I WILL!!~Janet~ - 08-01-2012, 04:29 PM #46

The latest leak is practically flawless...I am convinced this is on Verizon's end. Maybe they can't get their bloat situated in ics. Maybe they are scared because the moto update is screwed up. I do know my leak is running exceptionally well. And agree with others it is false advertising. If you aren't sure about future updates and such, don't use it as an advertising point...that simple.

Re: Angry Rezound users are banning together!
The leaks are not perfect. There are plenty of complaints about some leaks overheating phones, others have terrible battery life compared to others. You can't really say what the problems are, because most people on leaked software are rooted as well, and just flash the things that worked and don't care to much.
My gatorade analogy still holds up. My company likes me, and likes the customer, it just takes forever to get the suits to make a decision. Verizon likes you. My wife, who I would say is a normal smartphone user, was pissed after the razr update. She didn't like the changes to the lock screen, and her battery life has been worse. She still has no idea what version of android she has. She probably barely knows it's called android, not DROID.
I think they put the leaks out to keep the wolves at bay, but some of you won't bite. And this is why i think all of this is silly. It's out there to be had, it's easy to do, and there is this forum somewhere that does not care how silly your questions might be, it answers without ridicule. What do you give Akop?
