Default 3.6 vs "vanilla" vs blur

Now that all have officially updated to ics, from a strictly stock experience, I don't see why there is so much dislike for 3.6. After using all 3 phones, for what's available on Verizon (aside from S3), I'm still confused why the rezound wasn't marketed more. Anyone running stock nexus or razr disagree?

Camera and people app improvements of UI (from the screenshots I've seen), responding to calls with text, and browser improvements, to name a few. (Alas, I have neither Razr or Nexus.) My question is, how is Sense better than stock? Maybe your answer will help me be more thankful!

More to the point I guess is this - what is so obtrusive about sense 3.6 (especially now with the ability to disable apps) that it negates the excellent screen, form factor, camera, free headphones, etc?

Those on stock say that any skin over top of straight android causes lag. Not to mention the extra space it takes up.

Having run Aokp for a bit on the rezound, I can see what they are saying, but I do not agree to with the ferociousness of the claim. I like sense.

I'm not a widget guy so Sense has no appeal to me. Stock Android is wicked fast and highly theme-able. Blur is a frickin mess. So add in the fact that there's always source for stock Android (making ROMs,kernels, and hacks easier and better to make) and to me stock is the only way to go.

With time and exposure I am sure I would agree with you. In my 2+ years on smartphones I have had vanilla for all of a week maybe..

I started out on the nexus. The stock android was boring and bland to me. Got the Rezound eventually, sense is pretty nice visually. I also don't see why people say it lags, guess I never ran that much on it. I never once saw a performance difference between the galaxy nexus and the rezound, even with the rezound on sense 4 roms. Yes I tried every rom available on the nexus too (pre-JB).

I now have a razr. I am surprised to say the stock software (blur) is pretty nice. There is little to no actual "Blur" anywhere, it feels more like a stock experience.

A week? Geez, I guess you didn't have an OG droid.

My first Android was a Motorola Cliq XT so Blur was my first experience on Android, then I temporarily went to a Samsung Moment (as a loaner from Sprint until more Evos were available), I missed some of the Blur components 'cuz the Moment was so bland (hate that phone) and I didn't know about launchers yet.. Then I finally got my OG Evo.. Sense is what drew me to it. I thought it was beautiful.. but I ended up using Go Launcher once I got tired of it. After that I tried out the Bionic but I hated it and returned it for the Rezound.

Well having started with stock android with the G-1, I can understand why people like it, you can do anything with the device basically. Having used 3 sense devices I can appreciate the high points that sense brings, but I also understand why people prefer stock to sense because sense is tightly integrated into the software(but that's also what makes so many love htc devices). Now going back to the Galaxy Nexus it does make a slight difference in how the device runs with stock vs sense. I've never used blur though as quite a few people I know say it's horrible. It basically all comes down to personal preference, almost like coke vs pepsi.

For the record, it's more than just a skin.
