I am new to the Thunderbolt and have been reading and reading finding out different things I never had to bother with when I flashed Roms to my Nexus One and other devices.
I am looking for some imfo on this MD5 SUM (checking for a match)???? What is it, what am I looking for as to the match?? I want to make sure I have as much imfo before I start flashing anything. Probably going to start with the BAFF 1.8.6 remix with the latest official MR2 OTA radio. One more thing while I am asking questions, I understand the 1.8.6 remix rom comes with the custom kernel already in the rom. The radio is a different story, that needs to be flashed by itself ??????
Thanks for any help,
Vinny

md5 is a way of checking that a file is the proper file , also it checks for corruption from a bad download.

usually the originator will give you a download link and a series of numbers

ex. 123456789

you then use a checksum verfication tool this will take the file you want to match and give you its md5 checksum number. then you match it against the one the originator has given you.

if the number matches the download was good and the is correct

there are many md5 checksum tools online just google them and select what you would like to use.
or if you know your way around dos shell commands or adb you can do it that way

If downloading on your phone, you can use astro file manager to check your md5... just long press the file and press details. I'm sure you could use other file managers also, but I always just use astro.
