My third bolt just died. VZW is sending me a Galaxy Nexus today. Feeling pretty good about this! Any comments?

Lucky I wish I had one. The GN is my next android phone when I upgrade in November unless the Nexus 4 catches my eye.

I just got a replacement for my second thunderbolt and this one doesn't even work so i'm gonna have to replace it again. I'd love to replace it with a nexus as well. How did you get them to send you one??

Ah bummer your Thunderbolt died. I really hope your GN doesn't have any signal connection issues I've read about where it frequently loses not only data but voice. It's been so bad for some that they returned the phone even after multiple replacements. It still appears to be unresolved as to whether it's hardware (weak radios?) or a software issue. Anyway, good luck and enjoy your new phone! :D

Well... since you asked... Personally, I wouldn't be "feeling pretty good" about a phone noted to have such poor voice and data reception. I consider those to be the two most important features of any phone. But, that's just me, I guess.

I checked out a Nexus at a VZW store and it felt kind of cheap. I expected more for $300. I like the feel of my $50 Thunderbolt much more. Not that anyone cares...haha

I have a Gnex and love it. No signal issues at all. Grats on the new phone

in my experience with VZW, your situation is a rare one indeed. the fact that they basically "jumped you to the front of the line" is pure luck. Given the same situation with 100 other VZW'ers, they would keep feeding us Tbolts, or whatever phone you had. I had 3 replacement Eris' phones, and everytime I mentioned getting a different phone (even if I paid the difference) I was denied with extreme prejudice!! I'm glad to see that some of us can "upgrade" in a situation like this, but as a general rule, it's not going to happen, no matter how much you jump up and down. NOW.....good luck with that Nexus, I work with two people who have them. let's just say they wish they would have gone Razr or even Bionic. i hope your unit is exempt from the flaws that I see and hear about daily.

I felt the construction was really cheap considering the Bolt is solid metal, but given the fact that ive gone through 3 bolts so far and VZW said they would not extend my contract with the gnex, I figured it would be worth a go. I got an Otterbox case for it because of the lightweight construction and I really like it so far. Granted its only been twenty four hours, Im really happy with it. ( and yes it is a factory refurbished gnex) Tech support was very helpful with the exchange. The only reason I can think of for this treatment was that when they offered me a charge i said its not a like exchange because its not a true google experience phone. The tech supt. agreed with me completely. He had to get his managers approval but it seemed like no big deal. try that approach.

wow. I'm glad you didn't get the Charge. I would keep getting refurbished tbolt after tbolt instead of that. I was about THAT close to choosing the Charge (whoa...pretty screen....) because of the bad press the tbolt was getting. then I read about the browsing experience (serious lag, flash issues) on the Charge. I didn't have those kinds of problems on my Eris. good luck with your Nexus.

Good luck with the Nexus! Enjoy it!
What issues were you having with the Thunderbolt that caused you to go through three units?

Blown out of proportion, at least in my case, my wife's case and my boss' case. All three of us have Nexus phones and none of us have issues.

I've been running 4.0.4 on my Gnex since it surfaced a couple weeks ago. It has updates for both CDMA and LTE. In my house I was getting -93 dBm and 1 bar of LTE .. now it's -83 and 3 bars. When I walk outside on the porch it's -73 dBm and 4 bars ... speedtest gives the same numbers I got on the Thunderbolt. So I think this issue will be laid to rest soon. :)

Tha fact that all these replacement phones are N.F.G. Speaks volumes about vzw quality over refurbs. It's as if returned phones are not classified defective 'till ther are returned at least twice. Seems like returnef phones are sent out without testing, letting us test it instead.

Feel good. I have Nexus and it's been great. Even better than my old Incredible. No connectivity issues. Battery has been much better. The Thunderbolt is big heavy piece of crap. My girlfriend is still mad at me for encouraging her to get that thing.

Love my nexus. Signal is just fine, and call quality is good enough for a phone call. Would I listen to music over the phone? No. Its a good thing I'm making phone calls over the phone after all. Battery life is hard but you know that story with a bolt. Over all I really like my nexus.
