Ice Cream Sandwich Updates: The North American Edition
by HTC on Friday, February 17, 2012 at 11:57am

We have more good news related to Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich, and can confirm that upgrades are planned for Verizon Wireless customers with the HTC Rhyme, HTC Thunderbolt, and DROID Incredible 2 by HTC, as well as the already announced HTC Rezound.

In addition, the HTC Raider is on the list to receive ICS for customers of Rogers and Bell in Canada. Stay tuned for more news on Ice Cream Sandwich releases in the coming weeks.

Ehh by the time we get the OTA update, Jelly Bean(Android 5.0) will be out. Very good news though

When changing wallpaper isn't enough to keep us entertained, I guess we might as well update to ICS for a new thrill. :D

It's hell having a phone that "just works". Can get boring :)

Just to clarrify... I love having a phone that "just works". Hopefully HTC will iron out this ICS update before pushing it out.

At the very least, the forum should light up with folks who are "stock rooted" and who accidently accept the new ICS OTA update :) Carefull guys!

Beat me to it... :) but holy hell I am excited. I'll expect it by summer, but now I don't need to upgrade for another year :):)

Good to see the official word about the upgrade. Now there is no more speculation about it! HTC has made an official statement. :)

When this drops I'll have to pull my TBolt out and see how ICS with HTC Sense runs.

Congrats to all you TBolt owners on getting the official word on ICS.

I am kind of with FrankXS on this. I pretty much downloaded the GB updates as soon as they hit. However, I seem to have a stable phone that does most of what I want. Unless ICS greatly improves the "profile" options, I probably won't be an early adopter.
Also, I am not on Facebook, so I need sites like this to find out about updates and paths forward.

That's awesome the Thunderbolt is getting an update. This phone is just too good not to get it. :-)

Shocking to bump into another person NOT on Facebook! I thought i was the only one. Anyways, i've got a noob question. What's the hype about ICS? From what i read, it'll be largely unnoticed after you get it except for some slight UI changes? I totally agree about have a stable phone right now with GB and not wanting to upgrade.

this is great!!! now...let's be patient everyone, cuz I'm locking in to about June before we see this. anything earlier will be gravy. good to know that it's official, however!!

I would just like to point out of the 3 original lte phones the charge revolution and the thunderbolt. Where the only one getting ics officially. The charge is going to be stuck on gb. And the revolution I believe is still on froyo so for the all the people that said we made the wrong choice in the end I think we made the right choice.

Add me to the list of holding off when ICS is released for the Thunderbolt. Also, I'm not on Facebook (or any social networking site) either.

I don't get the hype either. Anyway, besides stability with ICS, I'm also concerned about any newer version of Sense. It's being reported (from HTC's Facebook page) that it will be Sense 3.5. I looked up some screenshots (see this review of the Rhyme) and while I can live with the newer lockscreen, not so sure about the dock (it looks like two round buttons). We'll see, may be there's a "classic" dock mode.
