Text going out to wrong person

Since the last update, sometime when I send a text out, it goes out to the wrong person. It just randomly picks someone one my phone and sends it to them instead of who I want it to be sent to. Please let me know if any of you have the same issue and if you know how to fix it. Thanks!

That's weird have you tried a reboot and clearing all data out off the SMS app also are u using the native app o something else

I just took the battery and SIM card out and put it back in. I'm just using the regular text messaging app that came with the phone.

If it does not stop after u clear all the data out of the SMS app u might have to do a factory reset

I've had it happen a couple of times too recently. A few months back I think I remember hearing that google said it was a bug in froyo and would be fixed in gingerbread. I think that's right anyway, I didn't pay too much attention to it before because it wasn't a problem for me at the time.

I have been having the same issue but don't really want to do a factory reset...

Did this start happing before the update or after as it might be a mr2 update issue

I've noticed the same issue. I reboot my phone daily (old blackberry habit) and I've noticed it still happens. I've had it happen 4 or 5 times since I did my update on Tuesday.

Then it sounds to be a mr2 issue.we should just add this to the things HTC has to fix with gb

yeah, same here. not good. i tried calling verizon, but all they did was tell me to take out my battery and pull out the sim and put them back in. this needs to be fixed ASAP. not good.

If you root it the issue will go away :-)

looks like thats what i'm thinking of doing. just dont know how and i dont want to try it myself and brick my phone.

Go download auto root and just follow the instructions in screen. If you have any issues post in the root and rom section and we can help u through it. :-)

Having same issue's here...ever since MR2 update. Go to text someone and goes to someone else completely...this can get me in a bunch of trouble...lol

I read somewhere in this forum that it is a froyo issue. Before the update it did happen to me on occasion, after the update it got worse. It is suppose to be fixed in gingerbread. My solution until then is gosms pro. It actually works better than stock and gives me a signature which the stock SMS doesn't give you.

A got a Verizon rep to respond to me on twitter but as soon as I got him the rest of the Info they left for the weekend. I'll try again on monday

I didn't bother reading all the posts, but:

This happened ever since I got my phone, but only on Froyo. The radio updates never seemed to make a difference. It stopped, however, when I put GB / Sense 3 on my phone. The stock messaging app is total crap, imo. I had problems with it sending messages to the wrong people and getting very laggy if I had more than 100 messages. The newer messaging app on GB (or is it sense 3 that changed it?) works like a charm. If you're stuck on Froyo, then I suggest you look into an aftermarket app like SMS Pro or something.

You may want to try a third-party SMS app like GOSMS or Handcent. Supposedly, the bug only affects the stock app.
