Does you TB misdirect your text and picture messages?
I just bought my TB a week ago. I had the original Motorola Droid before then. I'm not sure if I it's something *I* am doing but I am ready to pull my hair out!
At least once a day my phone won't send a text to the person to whom it was designated. It will randomly select a person I have previously conversed with.
It is frustrating!! Is this something anyone else has experienced? If so, is there a fix for it?
Any input or assistance is greatly appreciated! - 09-19-2011, 12:34 PM #2

This is a known bug. I believe there is a fix in gingerbread

Re: Does you TB misdirect your text and picture messages?
It's been mentioned a few times as a defect in stock Froyo (not just the Tbolt falls victim to it, from what I can understand).
I've never had it happen to me, but I tend to clear out sent/received SMS/MMS messages pretty quickly so there aren't a lot of messages for it to get confused with.
Supposedly there's a fix in Gingerbread for it, or you can use an aftermarket SMS messaging tool for now, or just watch your recipients VERY carefully. - 09-19-2011, 12:35 PM

Re: Does you TB misdirect your text and picture messages?
Thank you! I am going to have to read up on gingerbread. From the few things I have read, it looks as thought it might hopefully fix a few things.
Tfrank, I am using stock messaging app. I never considered searching the market for something different. I'm just glad to know it's not something I'm doing. - 09-19-2011, 12:38 PM #6
Re: Does you TB misdirect your text and picture messages?
Yeah, I just had this happen for the first time a couple of days ago, since the release date of March 17th. Extremely annoying! At best!
Stock HTC app on stock phone.
I also hope the GB update fixes this.

Re: Does you TB misdirect your text and picture messages?
I have only had it happen once so far, I have also read that it happens with 3rd party apps too, though i can't say 100%

Re: Does you TB misdirect your text and picture messages?
My personal fix, that has worked so far, aside from one time where I received a message at the same time as I was sending one, was cutting down the message limit to fifty per person and not having more than three conversations open at once.
When I had it at the default unlimited, it was happening to me almost on a daily basis, even with just two text windows. - 09-19-2011, 01:32 PM #9
It used to happen a lot to me but one thing that an above mention was deleting all messages daily. I have done this and since then the error has yet to happen again

It's a fun lil bug, isn't it? My coworker knows some of the things I was planning on doing to my girlfriend the following night because of it. Made for interesting conversation at work.

Maybe it hasn't happened to me since I have conversations limited to 10 messages....and because I only text about 20 different people.
I have no power saver nor task killer. I use go sms - 09-19-2011, 09:13 PM #20
Re: Does you TB misdirect your text and picture messages?
It has never done this for me.

Re: Does you TB misdirect your text and picture messages?
I've had this bug on every Android phone I've had (Droid Eris>Samsung Fascinate>HTC Thunderbolt). Supposedly the 2.3.4 version of Gingerbread should have the fix for the SMS bug (I'm not certain for sure, but when the Nexus S received the upgrade from Gingerbread 2.3.3 to 2.3.4, I had heard it mentioned). It's an annoying bug, that's for sure.

The fix that worked for me is:
Use go-sms, and
limit conversations to under 200 messages.
Neither worked on its own, but since I started doing both the problem seems to be gone. - 09-19-2011, 10:52 PM #23
Re: Does you TB misdirect your text and picture messages?
I've been using go sms since having this happen to me. I haven't had it happen to me since using go sms. Try a third party sms app.
