    Default GB Update Pulled?

I've heard conflicting info on whether or not the update has been pulled. Does any one have a definitive answer? I tried to download on 9/28 but the download failed. I tried pulling the battery and the sim card and try to upgrade again. This is drive me crazy. Any help?

It's been pulled. We are all expecting a new one, "soon".

That's what I was afraid of. I also seemed like people were still getting the update. I guess it's a good thing that they pulled it to get it right. But they have had months. But I digress.

I haven't seen anyone here who got it after they pulled it. Flashing the GB RUUs doesn't count. If i'm wrong, someone who has downloaed the OTA and installed, after they pulled it, let us know. Again not the RUU. Or Revolutionary.

I thought it was kind of silly to pull the update just for the voicemail notification issue. I did get the update and everything is working perfectly on my phone but I do use VisualVoicemail which was unaffected. Verizon should have just given everybody VVM for free for 30-60 days and kept on pushing IMHO. That would have generated some good will with their customers and, who knows, some people may have liked it enough to keep it when the freebie ran out.

Yeah, I'm seriously considering keeping it. It's not so much the "visual" part I like so much, it's the instant listen to any message -- and I mean instant. No dialing, no sound of password being entered (automatic or not), no recorded voice, ever (i.e. telling you "one new message, left today at 4:33pm", etc.). All in all, a very good, totally integrated, quick package. Notifications, of course, work perfectly.

That sounds pretty cool. I like the whole instant part with no delays. I may sign up to see how it works. :-)

I got the OTA the first day and no complains, working great here. I do not use VM so it does not affect me if it works or not.

The part that bugged me was that our department advised that the update should not have been pushed in the first place due to the MWI (message waiting indicator) issue. I love how they ignore us 70% of the time.

Of course they had to pull the update as opposed to giving free VVM for 1 month... its cheaper and what if HTC took longer than a month?

Naturally, had they just delayed it, the cost would have been even lower, but I digress.

Mortiel you and I are of a similar ilk when it comes to how much "knowledge vs pull" we have by dealing with the problems in the trenches that are created by the clueless who make technical decisions based on what they overheard on the 3rd tee at the Country Club.

I think based on the responses in this very thread that VZ Marketing missed a golden opportunity by being shortsighted as usual. Realistically, how much stress would be put on the IVR (internal voice recorder) servers if everyone got free VVM for 2 months until a patch could be pushed out. I find it hard to believe I'm going to need to install another 146mb version of GB just to correct a VM notification glitch. If that's the case then my clueless bosses are at least a smidgen smarter than yours ... lol.

Once people got used to SEEING a list of their voicemails and who they were from, could listen to each one individually without having to go through the "voicemail retrieval dance" and deleting others with a long press with no fuss and no muss the number of subscribers would easily offset the cost of offering it free in the first place. But NO, "what are your numbers this week" is the corporate mantra that is helping to bury this country's economy faster than a coke-addled gravedigger with a HEMI-powered backhoe.

Stop trying to pick peoples' pockets and just show them a product they actually want to buy and they probably will buy it.

Since this GB update caused my phone to have this VM notification issue for the first time, I would have much rather had Verizon wait til the build was up to par.

2nd.. Been using it since I switched to verizon from sprint. On Sprint VVM is free... I wasn't going to start paying for it if I found a suitable replacement, and youmail is just that. Updated this week and looks like they added some nice features (basically, CityID for free as well).

I'll agree with that. Started using youmail on my last bb and was the first app I downloaded when I got my thunderbolt. Works great and free is key.

I think giving VVM for 1 month would have been a great marketing idea for them too - I'm sure there are people out there that once they saw VVM in action, they would have kept it after the free month.

Oh, I do not disagree there... I think they should do the City ID thing with VVM and give you 1 month free with the purchase of a new device that supports it. Get you hooked early.

However, that is not really my department. My department is the guy sitting behind the boss giving a speech, and just shaking his head because the boss is an *****. We all just sit and shake our heads at the higher ups make poor business decisions.

He's right to be angry. My only question is what does it "cost" vzw to give us vvm? I would say absolutely nothin! It should be free for l of us all the time. Their navigation app is also a joke so it should either be free or uninstallable. Why would anyone with a smart phone use vs navigator?

Btw, is the plan for tunewiki to install itself every day? Vzw is missing the boat....why don't they charge us a buck a day NOT to have tunewiki?

I'm really sick and tired of waiting. One of the main reasons I got this phone was to Skype video. No, not any of the other video programs, but SKYPE, because it is the only program currently that, if FFC worked, would work for my purposes.

It's been way too long, screw it. I'm going to just d/l the update.

I've been looking for the last hour, would someone be so kind as to repost the link to the download of GB? The one that does not require me to root. Yes, I realize it will require me to wipe the phone, but thats okay.

    Thanks.
