Default Finally took the plunge and rooted

Well, I finally took the plunge and rooted. I must admit I was fairly fearful of what might happen. I am currently running Das bamf forever 1.0.9 and I must say that I agree that the Thunderbolt should have come with that software native from HTC and Verizon. I got tired of waiting for HTC and Verizon to get their head straight about software and such. I am a rooter for life.

    Thanks all for the encouragement.

    Quietly Rooted!

Congrats on making things happen for yourself! ;-) Some root apps I use are Titanium Back Up (back up all apps and app data) and Wifi Tether (find it through Google).

If you're feeling saucy, try checking out one of the AOSP Roms. It's a nice change of pace. Have fun!

Is it really worth it? I'm scared that I might screw it up. But everyone seems to love it once it's rooted...why? What is better about it once you root the phone?

The phone runs better on the after market software than the crap Verizon pushes out to us. Plus it's nice to over clock it and put in better kernels so the phone runs even better. It's all a little scary at first but the tutorials make it a breeze!

Being able to take screen shots and tether are what make it worth it for me. But I love tinkering too, so being able to swap out the kernels and overclock it so I can really maximize my phones power is quite nice.

I wish there were a way to load my 2 favorite roms and with a single command switch between them. Every time I use a nandroid it takes a while to get everythin g syncing properly and one rom ain't enough!

I rooted a few weeks ago and flashed the pre-loaded BAMF cubed 1.0.5. Loved it, so I upgraded. Went over to Gingeritis 3D and have fallen back in love with this phone. I see why it was such a big deal when root was found so quickly. Contemplating on flashing an AOSP rom. I'm so new to this, I don't know what I want my phone to be!! I do however like the LG homescreen. Anybody know if it's possible to get a theme like that on the TBolt?

battery life, speed and operation of phone, customizing, using different versions of sense...etc... it is definitely worth it...i was scared too but i downloaded the one click root and it worked like a charm...took me a lil while to figure out how to flash roms and radios but the members of androidcentral and teambamf are amazing and will help you every step of the way if you need it....currently using soab 1.03 and imo 5.0.3 for my kernel along with depinker....

While I'm not specifically familiar with the LG UI, the best way to get the experience you want is with a good launcher replacement. I'm using Go Launcher EX right now, but other popular ones are LauncherPro, ADW, and Zeam. With GO Launcher, I have a pretty great ICS theme right now.

It's like being afraid of going on a rollercoaster, once you go on it, you want to go on more and more.

Once you are rooted, you get freedom on your phone. Things run faster, all the bloatware that Verizon puts on there is gone....nations embrace each other, hate stops and everyone has a job.....LOLOL

Take a look at this first if you're still concerned about rooting. I rooted my Bolt a week after it's release and never looked back (to stock, that is)

During Christmas break when I have some free time and the updates have slowed down I'll consider joining the root community. I've feel right st home with the advanced users and software developers but I just fear that $100 deductible.
Make everything as simple as possible, but not simpler.

Welcome to the world of root and custom roms, root apps etc.. there is no going back once you get a taste of what your phone should be like and perform.
