Default Here's a fix for the unexplained MAX in-call VOLUME

I found a fix that works for me for the unwanted in-call max volume issue. If your phone inexplicably reverts to maximum in-call volume, and when you answer or make a call you are blasted out, that is the issue I am talking about.

    From the Market:

You can lock all the various volume settings of the phone, including the in-call volume which is not accessible on the bare ThunderBolt unless you are already in a call. Of course, by that time you have already been blasted out. The ONLY volume that I lock is the in-call volume. Never had an issue with any of the others. And, hint: You can set it to prompt you if/when anything tries to change the volume, but if you set it to "instant" it will eliminate the prompts. It will be totally seamless and you will be virtually unaware it is doing its job (my kind of app!) So... now I have a perfect phone My in-call volume stays put. And, you can set it to ignore this lock during a call. Perfect. This means you have a pleasant "default" but can still change it temporarily during the call itself, depending on the specific call. Sometimes some systems come in louder than others.

Another helpful app that allows you to set the in-call volume without actually being on a call is:

Just thought some folks might want to try this.

I use tasker and just made a phone ringing profile to set phone volume to 2 every time it rings.
Make everything as simple as possible, but not simpler.

This problem also occurs when I call out, not only when the phone rings.

Man you must have great hearing! I leave my volume maxed out all the time and I still need to switch to speaker phone if I'm in a noisy place like a mall.

My hearing isn't that great! When my volume is maxed out, anyone standing within about three feet of me can hear the remote party. I mean, it hurts my ear.

I've noticed you mention your low volume a number of times. Seems odd. I wonder if it's a hardware issue???? Or, it could be that it goes through one of my ears and out the other being broadcast to other people

Great tip! I just installed it and will see how it goes.

I wonder if the app developer could include a feature that would indicate which app is the culprit here. Something has got to be triggering this behavior. If we knew what it is, we could alert the appropriate developer.

Actually, I think he already has. By default you will get a message telling you when something is trying to change the setting. Or, you can set the "timeout" to "instant" to avoid the message and make the whole program totally seamless in the background. I set mine to instant 'cuz I didn't want to be bothered with it. It just does its job and I never think about it anymore. However, if you don't set the timeout to "instant", you may see what program is the culprit. I never even bothered trying to track it down. I suspect there is more than one and I suspect it is an HTC sense related issue. But I don't know. I'm just happy that I never have to worry about it any more.

I am not trying to help the user, I am trying to see the solution to the problem as it is one I am experiencing.
