    Default HTC sense 3.5

I can't seem to find a topic here discussing this. But why can't thunderbolt have it? And I mean without rooting. It can't be hardware problems. The HTC rhyme has it and its not really a flagship device. The rhyme has similar 1ghz single core processor and same amount of ram(768 MB?) It doesn't have 4g nor a 4.3 inch screen. It has a smaller screen at 3.7 in and smaller camera quality. So my question here is why does the rhyme have it and not the tbolt. Both have gingerbread but only one has sense 3.5.

The only way you'll ever be able to make your phone how you want is by rooting.

    HTC said No!!!

Rooted Tbolt's can and have had Sense 3.5 for some time on some ROMs... IMHO, it's not all that much.

I got Razr now but I still liked the tbolt. It was and still is a flagship device. It has. Lot of supporters and all but I thought it was kinda dumb not being able to have it.

I am running Infected eternity and it has it.....doesn't look 100% different than 2.1.....maybe 50%....I actually like it better, but if that is the only thing you want....it isn't worth it going through a ROOT to get it. The added benefits of ROOTING is that you can BRAG to your friends and get rid of a lot of CRAPWARE plus you can TETHER for free!

Yes they do. They did update Sense when they rolled out Gingerbread.

None the less, they rarely push out major updates to the sense version. I'd say 2.0 to 2.1 is a minor update.

I have to guess that a lot of it is simply about the QA process. HTC's developers working on new Sense versions are probably focused on new/future devices. I imagine that if HTC had tried to include Sense 3.0 or even 3.5 in the GB update for Thunderbolt, it would have taken even longer to get it out. Remember, once HTC clears it, it's gotta go through Verizon next. In other words, the TBolt GB update was probably already being developed before Sense 3.0/.5 was ready to be included, and given how long the vetting process for updates takes, it would have been counter-productive to try to incorporate it in the middle of the process. Sense 2.1 was probably the current version of Sense available when development started on the TBolt GB update. Again, just speculation.

How do rooted people get it? They copy it from other device and use that to put it on the tbolt. Why can't HTC do the same? Just change some of the hardware requirements from the rezound to the tbolt.

No, Android got updated from 2.2 to 2.3.

Sense got updated from 2.0 to 2.1. It is not the same sense that the phone originally cane out with (though admittedly not much of an upgrade).

I don't think we will see an OFFICIAL release of SENSE 3.0 or 3.5. It isn't worth HTC's time to do it for the TBolt which in corporate and real world terms is at the end of it's lifecycle..even though it is an amazing phone.

If you want 3.0 or 3.5, it is available....you just have to root your phone and load a ROM that has it...which most of the current ones (BAMF, GINGERITIS, INFECTED etc), already have.

I am running INFECTED and it has 3.5 and beats audio.

Yes, the Sense version is ported from other devices. See my response below for why the probably don't go through the trouble of doing it at HTC.

Yes and no. I agree it's not at its end in terms of relevance or usefulness, and HTC and Verizon will definitely continue to support the device. I do, however, feel it has reached "its end" as far as new development is concerned on HTC's end. This is nothing shocking. HTC, as well as every other manufacturer, is pretty much forced to turn out new flagship devices every few months, and therefore it's natural that ongoing development for devices older than 1 to 2 generations is going to stop.

This is precisely why I seriously doubt we'll ever see an "official" ICS update for the Bolt, but hey, I've been wrong before.
