Re: 2.11.605.9 Radio
Just beware if you are rooted. When this radio is flashed it will ask you to take the OTA and if you do that while rooted you will have problems. Also if you plan to root do it before this update, after this update Revolutionary will not work. Hopefully it will be fixed soon.

Re: 2.11.605.9 Radio
Ouch!! I was looking to root my wife's tbolt.
So to clarify and confirm again, revolutionary will NOT work with this update (current, until revo is updated).
silly question, is there a way to undo these current and new updates and go back to previous on a stock tbolt? I was looking to root her phone this weekend. :-(עם ישראל חי - 12-17-2011, 03:21 PM #4Droid Razr Maxx

Re: 2.11.605.9 Radio
Hi Ed Witles,
I've been trying to follow on the topic of that thread, and excuse my beginner-ness, I started back on the first page, and I see they are mentioning the verizon update, and seems like they were able to extract the radio our of the update and post that. After that, it seems that they were even able to load it successfully (I'm assuming to their Infected custom roms).
I also see that some on that thread are reporting better signal due to the radio.
Qestion #1: Is it difficult/necessary to flash the new radio? Does it matter i'm not on Infected. I myself am currently on Bamf Forever 1.10 with the Green Hot theme + Ziggys Kernal 110511, and I already have a nandrod of this to restore if I run into problems.
And so I'm a bit confused as post #2 on this current thread mentions that revolutionary will not be able to root (temporarily) if one has the update. (I was looking forward to rooting my wife's device, but she now has the update)
Qestion #2: Is the above true? I simply couldn't locate any mention of revolutionary from reading through the entire thread you posted. (I know you cannot be responsible for what others write, though I think you guys know more on this than I do haha :-)
Any input is appreciated. thanks.עם ישראל חי - 12-17-2011, 09:07 PM #9
Re: 2.11.605.9 Radio
Hi drhere,
I''m also on Bamf Forever 1.10.
Could you I possibly bug you for some assistance? What is the best way to flash this radio with no problems?
I have a current nandroid as well as current mybackup and titanium backups.
can I create a folder in my sd card called "radios" or does this file have to be stored in the base level of the card? and to flash it, do boot into recovery, only wipe dalvik and cache and then load this file from sd card and then reboot out of recovery?עם ישראל חי - 12-17-2011, 09:19 PM #10
Re: 2.11.605.9 Radio
Nandroid backup's don't back up the radio... you can either go to Post #3 of the How to guide linked in my signature... or the short version, place the PG05IMG.zip file on the base of your SD Card, power off, hold down the Volume Down, then press the Power Button, you boot up into hboot, say yes to update, after it's done select reboot, then rename the PG05IMG.zip or delete it otherwise you will have issues later.

Re: 2.11.605.9 Radio
I just flashed the new radio stripped from the recent 2.11.605.9 update without a hitch. Just follow fatboy97's instructions, or the instructions found on page one of the thread in the OP's link.
I'm running BAMF Forever 1.09. So far, the new radio seems to work just fine, but it's too early to tell if there's been any change/improvement in the reception. All I can say is that's it's working at least as well as before the flash.
Since it was asked, I also haven't had any attempt at an OTA update after flashing the new radio. I don't expect it to happen.Last edited by rvhighway; 12-17-2011 at 09:58 PM.

Re: 2.11.605.9 Radio
Unless you are rooted... absolutely no reason what so ever... if you are rooted and you are having good data connection, then no reason what so ever... if you are rooted and want to try a new radio, then why not.
Yes, it's actually two radio in the one file that allow you to get data via your CDMA network connection, and also a LTE radio.Droid Razr Maxx

Re: 2.11.605.9 Radio
It took me a while to summon up the stones to install a custom ROM and Kernel, and now that I have I am SOO happy I did. I highly recommend it. Random reboots are a thing of the distant past for me, and performance is soo much better.
I'm just now reading about these new radios so I'm probably going to load this tonight. I get good signal in most places but my office is pretty much a dead zone for all carriers (the building itself, outside is great). So if new radio's give me just a bit of an edge, I'm all for it. - 12-23-2011, 04:29 PM #19

Re: 2.11.605.9 Radio
I have not had one single instance of "no data" since the 605.9 OTA update with the new radios. I travel from 3G to 4G areas virtually every day and have had very fast (almost instant, I guess) switching. I'm very happy with 'em. I would be willing to bet that these current TBolt radios are the best of any 4G radios in any device right now. If it matters, I'm set at the factory default of eHRPD.

Re: 2.11.605.9 Radio
so here's an interesting thought I had about this new radio. (i'm still on .5 and not on .9 yet).
And this is only a thought, so please correct my thought process if wrong.
the question:
if i'm rooted via revolutionary, and if I upgrade my radio to new radio .9, i should still be able to unroot via revolutionary (if I had to for some reason).
I'm thinking, it's not the new radio file itself which was blocking users from gaining root on a nonrooted phone, it was other junk in the OTA that is patching up the exploit, correct?
for instance, to be able to gain root via revolutionary, be on software (which includes radio file) .5 and not .9, though, to unroot is still/should still be ok, no matter the radio file i would be on correct?
(revolutionary wouldnt need me to bring my radio back to .5 from .9 to unroot correct?)
sorry if the questions sound confusing.עם ישראל חי
