Box.com free 50GB of Storage
I just found this in the Galaxy Nexus forum (slap my face!
). I thought some of my ThunderBolt associates would like this. So... here it is...
50 GB free storage BOX
Just download the .apk attachment at the bottom of the linked xda post after following the Android Central linked post above. I just did a right click, save taget as, and plopped it into my Dropbox folder. Then I installed it from there (ironic, I know!).

Re: Box.com free 50GB of Storage
Box.com really is. My guess is they want to get a foothold in the Dropbox market. This promotion of specifically for LG phone users, but the app that "redphx" over at XDA made allows your Thunderbolt to "spoof" an LG phone I guess, and register you for the free upgrade. They've already had similar promotions for iOS users.
The app that the dude created for getting 50GB with the Thunderbolt was suspended, not the box.com app itself. Why? Well probably because the app was being used to spoof the identity of another phone to take advantage of this promotion. As the author of app indicates, you can also change your password after you've unlocked the 50GB of storage (which I did).
Bottom line:
Box.com is legit
The free 50GB is legit (albeit for a different phone).
the app used to get it from the Thunderbolt may not be, but again, I just used a "throw away" password that isn't associated with anything else I have, so what do I have to lose? The only thing I've really given the app was my email address. - 12-30-2011, 03:06 PM #10

I wish u all luck. I'm probably just chicken but I wouldn't personally take the chance. I feel like it is stealing from box.com under false pretenses.

I'm not trying to ruin it for you. Forget what I said. If the offer appeared in market for.my phone I would.grab it.
I have my own iPad and if it is in itunes I supose I could do it from there. I just don't get why a third party offers 50 free gb? - 12-30-2011, 08:43 PM

Re: Box.com free 50GB of Storage
Although you can't beat the Box "deal" (with or without the 50GB extra) 'cuz it's free to start, I like Dropbox a lot better. Box does not seem to have any actual "sync" capability. You can upload anything from your PC/Laptop (or phone) to the Box, but it doesn't have a mechanism to automatically sync to said PC/Laptop/Phone nor other PC/Laptop/Phone. Dropbox is very cool. Place it once, see it many places. It automagically syncs to any and all devices where you have loaded Dropbox. Very nice. Different service, really.
