    Not a lot. Unlocking the bootloader is the key to loading custom ROMS and APPS.

    if I unlock the bootloader can I still get OTA updates from apps I bought? and is there a way to relock it with this method?

    Market still updates your apps. I have several apps purchased using the bamf forever ROM. There are ways to unroot. Look around the forums.
