Re: Does Skype work now on the Thunderbolt?
Everytime I try to use skype is says "Sorry, your to ugly, camera will shut down immediately in order to save your embarrassment"
What is funny, the one reason I got the TBolt was for the front facing camera and I have only TANGO'd / Skype'd 2 times with my daughter to only see if it works. With this RAZR, I get a close shave

Re: Does Skype work now on the Thunderbolt?
I used skype on my thunderbolt since April. Works great and great picture quality, but don't use it for extended periods if you are on tiered data unless on wifi because I have seen skype use 600mb per hour. It also tends to get hot when running over 4GLTE.

Re: Does Skype work now on the Thunderbolt?
has anybody gotten the headphones to work with Skype? I tried using Skype for a video call yesterday but wanted to use the headphones for the audio. The sound wouldn't come out of the headphones, only through the phone speaker even when the headphones were plugged in.

Re: Does Skype work now on the Thunderbolt?
Actually, I too was wondering if Skype now works on my Thunderbolt, which I've owned since day one. I was actually more interested in trying this when I first got the Thunderbolt. But after all this time, I've since lost interest in trying this. Oh well, I guess it was just a novelty for me. I don't even know anyone that regularly does video calls.

When I had one I always skyped for a good hour a day. Sometimes on wifi. Picture was better than my old cam on my PC

Re: Does Skype work now on the Thunderbolt?
Did you go into the Skype options and enable the front camera? I know its a dumb question but have to make sure of the obvious first!

Re: Does Skype work now on the Thunderbolt?
If you all remember, there was to be a special version of VZW's Skype Mobile (called Skype Mobile with Video) that was supposed to launch with the Thunderbolt. Then is was supposed to be a month late. There was even a almost-finished version of it leaked. Then Microsoft bought Skype, which killed the project. So the standard Skype for Android app launched FFC support for Android 2.3 not long after that, to which the Thunderbolt received the 2.3 update in September? I think...
Long story short, there will likely never be a Skype Mobile with Video, but the standard Skype works fine, as well as GTalk and Tango. I use GTalk on a daily basis and have no issue with it.Former Verizon Wireless Technical Consultant - 04-13-2012, 04:41 PM #25
Re: Does Skype work now on the Thunderbolt?
I've only used it with the call test service, but the problem I'm encountering is, when I place the phone up to my ear and the proximity sensor turns the screen off, incoming audio cuts out.
Any idea how to fix this? I know it's a moot point for video calls, but what if you only want to use it to make voice calls?
